Polished Mesh Bracelets!

Recommended Posts

k3rm87

I know this has been covered before, but I haven't seen a new thread for quite a while on this subject.

I am in the market for a 22mm polished mesh bracelet to pop on my Seiko 5 Fathoms. I have purchased a few polished mesh bracelets in the past and to be honest, gone the cheapest route. I found an unadjustable, nice thick polished mesh on eBay around 3 years ago but the seller has now gone MIA and I stupidly sold it to a mate which he is enjoying to this day! I am trying to recreate the look. This was approx 4ml thick and only cost about $20usd.

Since the Seiko is a pretty cheap watch I can't justify spending close to the same amount for a Staib Mesh, although I know they are probably the best.

I have found the following:

http://www.ebay.com....K%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

(Would need to polish it down with a cape cod or the likes)

Or this from Watch Gekko (A little bit pricier)

https://www.watchgec...watch-strap.php

Does anyone have any others that they may have purchased or been looking at in the sub $80 price range?

Any info will be of help!

Cheers

Staib mesh is one of the best if not the best. It is expensive but will last you for long time and you can move it from watch to watch.

I tried like you and wasted cash on cheep but end up with staib, actually got one to many and should list one on m2m.

Wouldn't happen to have a spare 22mm would you?

Thanks for that mate. I will have to pass as it's out of the budget I want to spend on this watch as it's my beater. That is a beautiful strap though!!

Wonder what happened to Wjean's ebay store. Shame as they had the best of the cheap mesh.

The thing with mesh is you really do get what you pay for. A lot of the cheaper ones are very light and loosely woven.

Nothing much beats a top quality mesh bracelet and the staib ones are very good.

Another vote for Staib...I put it on my SOH V2 and it gets mistaken for a gen mesh a lot....Obviously mostly due the clasp as Breitlings have their own trademark clasps.

you have to watch - there is two clasp type. This is a "sheet" one. And it can also be combined with two type of "endlinks"

One is just cutted mesh - and one have full end welded as an "endlink"

These certainly look nice. Will you share your findings with us when they come in?

Thanks for all that have replied above, I am still on, 'search mode' though. The Staib bracelets look fantastic, and I am strongly considering one now.

Your first one listed here I already own, and it's on the watch at present. https://m.aliexpress...2748937422.html

I've had it for a while actually and seems to be a Chinese copy of the Staib. It's not as thick as my previous one from China that I stupidly sold to a friend. This one is about 3mm width. The main problem/s with it are:

1.) You take a few links out and there isn't enough flex in the mesh to sustain it, and due to the fact it uses cheap pins there is bend and flex in the links used, (due to lack of divers clasp I think, being butterfly). This could just be my wrist, but it is 7 3/4 I would assume a common size.

2.) The endlink of the bracelet only fits very thin spring bars, and I cannot even use the genuine thin spring bars from the Seiko 5 in this which also worries me. Had to find some very thin springbars to fit into the bracelet for this one which worry me.

Other than that the bracelet looks the part for the money, and will do for now.. I just want something more substantial.

I will add some pics shortly.

Definitely looking for that solid welded endlink though, the hooked mesh at the springbar just doesn't do it for me. I live that Breitling SOH look :)

Mr Stubbs

This mesh bracelet just came in from Aliexpress. $18 USD. I absolutely recommend it. Perfect fit, comfortable and very easy to adjust. https://www.aliexpre...2696632528.html

I bought an H Link shark mesh from Watch Gekko recently. It doesn't have the solid welded end link of the milanese, but it's great quality. I bought an el cheapo shark mesh on Amazon for about $25 and two of my dress shirts paid a heavy price for my stupidity. The sides of the mesh were rough and not polished and kept catching on the fabric -- effectively ruining the shirts and costing me $200 in the end. Live and learn.

In contrast, the Watch Gekko shark mesh is smooth, polished, and has a secure clasp. It gets compliments. As an aside, I have it on an old Seiko pepsi diver.
