bowtiefanatc 16 Posted November 21, 2013 Has anyone seen one of these or read anything about them? http://v.yupoo.com/photos/mrwatch/albums/8370125/ I was talking with a fellow member about the movement because I was stumped on that as well. Apparently it's a clone of a super high beat movement, which could be super unstable for all we know. I figure for $160 It's worth a shot to see if it's halfway decent. Your thoughts? Soopah Spy 0 Posted November 21, 2013 ETA did make a 2838, from what I've been able to find online, but discontinued it in the 1970's, as they couldn't compete with the El Primero movements from Zenith. If this is one, it's a recent copy, and I have no idea about its reliability. The original was supposedly 36,000 bph.
bowtiefanatc 16 Posted November 21, 2013 Yeah that's what we found too, it used to be extremely high beat but was stopped awhile back. I'm seriously tempted to get one...I think I just might
Barth 0 Posted November 21, 2013 Saw that a couple weeks ago as well. DW does look pretty darn good on this. Wonder if M can get it on the bracelet, as strap might be pretty shitty (as per all rep straps), and good straps for nautilus are either custom or gen. bowtiefanatc 16 Posted November 21, 2013 That was one of the downsides I saw too, I'm sure the strap is pretty bad.
Kleen™ 45 Posted January 7, 2014 Heck, I wanna see what the fuzz of this movement is all about. Ordered!
garrincha 0 Posted January 7, 2014 This one looks like a steal for that price - DW position and date font are accurate, on top of that the Patek Cross on the rotor is engraved ( as opposed to the sw200 version)! Kleen, please post a review when u get it! P.S. : btw, lpv at repgeek sells custom natuilus alligator straps, decently priced.

Thanks for the heads-up on the strap, although I have an SW-200 bracelet (better made) that I plan on migrating to the Lite version. BTW: White dial is OOS....:-(
Kleen™ 45 Posted January 7, 2014 .........on top of that the Patek Cross on the rotor is engraved ( as opposed to the sw200 version)! Except for the washer in the center, which looks like absolute shite. But I have few PP-rotors lying around, so I hope I'll be able to fix this...

Can't seem to join rep geek for some reason, but I want to buy the rose gold 5980 and put a brown croc on it, he sounds like a good option!!!! DC
Kleen™ 45 Posted January 7, 2014 They're 190 bucks a pop! For that price I think Heavy or P4 might be equally good, if not better options...
_DC_ 218 Posted January 7, 2014 You'd think that but the problem is no one makes them for the Nautilus because you have to make the tricky little plastic/metal insert piece that the polished endlink sits in, so if this guy does make them for Nauti' then I'll give him a go, still about $300 cheaper than a gen strap! garrincha 0 Posted January 7, 2014 They do look pretty nice, so 190$ might be a fair price. Here are his contact details: Email: [email protected] http://www.flickr.com/photos/lpvbespokeleather/sets
sardonix 1 Posted January 7, 2014 IMHO it's a really good value for money Rep, Significant differences between the 1:1 edition are : - Color of the dial is not the right blue - Crown guard hasn't the good shape - Thikness is 11mm vs 9,5mm for the 1:1 - movement quality But price is half
sardonix 1 Posted January 8, 2014 What are the differences between these two models apart from the movement? http://v.yupoo.com/photos/mrwatch/albums/6032502/ http://intime.co/product.php?id_product=1137

Kleen™ 45 Posted January 8, 2014 And the 2838 (36000vph) clone is in reality a nicely polished 21j running at a meager 21600 vph...
sardonix 1 Posted January 8, 2014 Ok 2 pics with similar light The first one The second one
dingle 57 Posted January 8, 2014 look at the markers close. there is much more white showing on the markers in the second pic look at the "2" on the date font as well
sardonix 1 Posted January 8, 2014 look at the markers close. there is much more white showing on the markers in the second pic look at the "2" on the date font as well Thanks, think date the number 2 looks better on the sw200 one. How much white on markers i am not convinced the sw200 is better? Toro pic with sw200 left gen right
dingle 57 Posted January 9, 2014 It seems the markers have about 80% of the white showing when compared to to the gen.... But now I see a whole other issue. The "ribbed" part on the dial it self is really different in size and look to me.... I need help
bowtiefanatc 16 Posted January 9, 2014 Unless some actually has a Nautilus....they aren't going to know. Those markers are pretty darn small in reality. Kind of bummed to hear that the 2638 is just a gussyed up 21J
sardonix 1 Posted January 9, 2014 And the 2838 (36000vph) clone is in reality a nicely polished 21j running at a meager 21600 vph... You refer to the cheaper one? In the specs it is a asian 2824 at 28800 what is wrong with that?

In the specs it is a asian 2824 at 28800 what is wrong with that? The watch mationed in the OP is what I'm referring to: It's listed as an 2838 (=36000 vph) but in reality it's a blinged up 21j running at 21600 vph. That's what wrong....:-)
