Spelling mistakes on the back of Lange replicas

Recommended Posts

LondonSW8

Hi all,

Has anyone had a good experience of buying a good replica Lange?

I ordered a replica Lange from Kuvarsit some time ago along with an Omega and a Glashutte. The QC pics of the Lange clearly showed a typo in that "LIMITED" in the phrase "A LANGE & SOHNE LIMITED" was missing an "i" and spelt "LIMTED".

They sent some new QC pics which, in retrospect, I shouldn't have accepted as that bit of the watch was obscured, but given I'd pointed out the spelling mistake I naively thought it would be OK. Had it shipped, and hey presto, the spelling mistake is on the watch. The other watches are great.

Looking around - for example http://www.tswatchltd.com/13800-al13800.html - it looks like this spelling mistake is a common problem.

Does anyone have a good experience of buying a decent replica Lange?

Thanks.

Paul

I agree it's a stupid mistake by the factory, but for $100 it will always come with mistakes. Be happy it's in a place where nobody will see it. Also, it just gives the watch some character, don't you think? :P

You've been around for a while.

That said, Langes (and I have several) are notoriously poorly replicated....because there are no off the shelf rep movements to faithfully match gen outputs. The Datograph is one of their best efforts. Langes do suffer from that LIMTED fail. Another well published fail is the MASTBR on the back of the JLC Master control geographique. There have been several explanations for this, but I like Narikaa's answer the best, our characters "look like Chinese" to them and are easy to confuse.

Be glad you don't have the OSTR PEREUAL DATEJUST rollie. :B):

I perfectly understand spelling mistakes. But I also understand hiring a professional native speaker to check it once before it goes into production.

What does it cost? $100? to check all spelling mistakes on a sample watch

The thing is many of those watches are not cheap at all.

Point 2 is it should be as simple as follows:

1:1 replica Spitfire Chrono - no spelling mistakes: $318

1:1 relica Spiteire Chrono - with spelling mistakes: $248 (1:1 exact same model as the correctly spelled, only difference is a spelling mistake)

My "Miliary Spec" Bell & Ross caseback beats military spec time any day :-P

BTW this isn't an ideal complaint for Q&A pics... They're not going to reengineer a caseback just for you ...

Do your research before you commit to buy, the sinn UX has a spelling mistake on the caseback, but it's easy to spot on the web pics at all dealer sites. Ask before you pays. same with one version of the IWC top gun, says weabons school instead of weapons school.

There's plenty out there.

Speaks volumes, OK, maybe only a brief tome, on the thinking process involved...."it's the same, just the same, only different"
