James. 4 Posted January 13, 2017 So AP have hired Panerai's R&D and design departments I can imaging the AP board meetings... "ok guys this year's SIHH/Basel i have a masterful idea. Minutes, nay, HOURS of work went into this design. We'll do the exact same watch as before but with a different case material. In two different models!" *applause for days from the board and fan boys everywhere* *internet forums* "incredible talent, how DO they do it?!" Its not really surprising, AP havent done anything new in years, baring the double balane RO and super sonnierre

Its not really surprising, AP havent done anything new in years, baring the double balane RO and super sonnierre Honestly i agree with what they did! First they are giving people what they want. Second they modified 2 of the greatest AP's they came up with and added amazing touches! Mercedes doesn't need to be an AMG either! Rolex every year adds small little stupid details yet everybody goes crazy for them! But when AP does it, its lazy? In the article it says it took them 600 hours of research to develop My personal verdict AP isn't lazy, what i see is they are listening to their fans! Unlike a lot of brands. Yes maybe the yellow gold 15202 is long over due! But the Perpetual in ceramic??? Mind Blowing! Just my 2c tho!

Piccolo 673 Posted January 16, 2017 Not really a fan of any of the new ones... Is it a good or a bad thing that they're using "the exact same movement from 1972" Is that progress or are there really no improvements that can be made? For me, if I was paying $55k and wanted some history, I'd go out and spend $100k+ and get some real history in the form of a vintage model.
