CartierPAMguy 0 Posted February 16, 2017 Hello, I got a PAM005 by H Factory from torobravo about a year ago. I love Pams and it was my everyday watch for a you guessed it, the last year. Unfortunately, I winded it back so much that it keeps winding. It only lasts for a couple of hours now :-( Is there any places around NYC that I can take it to get repaired? What are my options? GenTLe 1,490 Posted February 16, 2017 You just broken the mainspring. I bet you can find someone to put a new mainspring in it. The replacement part is less than 20$: http://www.ebay.com/itm/311680146674 and the replacement is easy for anyone that already dealt with mechanical watches. You can get even the whole barrel for less (Chinese one): http://www.ebay.com/itm/272532701080 Another option, if you feel brave, is to follow here: http://www.eta.ch/sw.../6497/6947.html specifically in this sequence and after the watch is completely discharged: In the disassembly only these 8 steps (the steps are bottom left of each page) A11, A12, A16 -> A21 then put the new barrel and reassemble it in the reverse order. EDIT: actually, don't do it. The central gear (that you need to remove to access the barrel) is fitted into the hour cannon pinion on the other side of the watch. If you try to take it out without removing the cannon pinion in advance, then you'll 99% bend it. And to remove the cannon pinion you need to take away the hands and the dial, so not something for a beginner. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
unreformed66 0 Posted February 17, 2017 Mainspring replacement in a 6497 is a 15 minute job, there's not that much to it for somebody that knows their way around one. ANY watchmaker should be able to do it for you as long as they are willing to work on reps. And by the way, unless you cranked with all your might on the crown it's not your fault that the mainspring broke. It happens once in a while. Any mechanical thing is subject to a parts failure and the quality on the Asian 6497 mainsprings is just tolerable to begin with. Usually it's the end that breaks on these which allows it to just keep spinning in the barrel rather than catching and stopping. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
