The incabloc mod for Panerais

Recommended Posts

And again a tutorial of Francisco:

Follows a picture of a gen Panerai movement:

A zoom to the balance assembly. Please, pay attention to the green arrow:

Now follows the balance assembly of a PAM rep:

Last picture shows too the incabloc employed by the gen. The difference is small, but noticeable. This mod consists of assembly the gen incabloc in the rep balance assembly.

The ETA part to be bought is reference 3024 of the ETA 6497 movement. It is priced 13 pounds + taxes + shipping at cousinsuk.com.

This is not an easy mod. The main problem is that the ETA part does not fit in the rep balance assembly. In addition, the whole balance assembly has to de disassembled.

The first task is to disassembly all the parts of the balance assembly.

Here the fine regulator is removed:

The balance wheel has to be removed too. Next pictures show all the parts after removing.

Next step is to remove the rep incabloc. You can use a press or a small screwdriver to remove it. Sorry, no pictures of that step:

If we try to fit the ETA incabloc we realize that it is not possible. The diameter is only a bit larger.

So I employed the lathe to reduce a bit the diameter:

The amount of material to be reduced is extremely small. Be careful. You can try another approach if you do not own a lathe.

Now it fits:

So now the balance wheel can be assembled.

In the last picture the incabloc needs to be pressed. If you do not have a press, you can employ covered pliers.

Incabloc fitted:

Now it is time to fit the fine regulator:

Last step is to assembly the balance wheel.

One point. When removing the balance wheel, you should remove a pin that fits the main regulator. Next drawing shows what I mean:

However, in this example I am showing, the spring get lost (unglued) from the main regulator when removing the balance wheel. So in this case I had to glue it again.

A comparison:

Regulating the beat error and precision is a must after this mod. Here a picture during regulation:

Follows a picture of the movement of my 112, with 2 mods: OP decal and incabloc.

I love my 112…

Best wishes,

Francisco
