Alpha Paul Newman (Good Pictures)

Recommended Posts

Mr. Genesis

Hi everyone,

So yesterday I got a new watch! An Alpha Paul Newman and I LOVE IT!

So lets talk about the quality. Well the watch is good, the movement seems good and keeps great time. The band is okay and the clasp is very cheap, but it is comfortable and it's all I need to be happy. :)

I took some pictures, enjoy!

Oh and it's my favorite look of all watches so I'm gonna wear it alot. ;)

Thanks my friends! I think it's 39 or 40mm. I don't know the size of my wrist, but it's perfect for me. :P

Pretty sure that's a manual wind seagull SG2903 but could be wrong. What's the price?

I have an alpha myself, not bad at all! Really like it, and trusted for the water resistance! ;).

Where did you buy the Paul Newman from?

Seconds at 9? What's the sweep like?

It's handwound

21,600 bph, but since the seconds hand (at 9) is very small, the sweep seems smoother than on a watch with central seconds with the same bph

Those are some seriously nice pictures.

Are they doctored? How do you click them with no dirt or lint showing even in micro shots?

You've got to keep the object cleaned with silk or microfiber or another material that doesn't leave debris behind. A lightbox also helps. I don't Photoshop or doctor any of my photos or macro shots and they come out looking clean and crisp too.

I bought it on ebay for about 180$. Yes it is at 9 and sweeps good.

I am pretty good with photoshop, but to be honest I almost did nothing on those pics. I took them when I got the watch. ;)

Thanks! It does not have a good quality band so the weight is not super good. But it's not super cheap so I don't mind. :P

That is absolutely gorgeous, great contrast in colour as well, I wasn't aware of Alpha watches so thank you for bringing them to my attention. Does yours have the display case back? Far better took look at than many quartz homages that are out there.

I am now considering this as a next purchase.

My watch doesn't have a display caseback like this one, but I wish it would! Also, my watch doesn't work for the moment because of a click spring issue... It looks like it's common for that kind of movement.

I have the silver dialed version of this and just love it. Yes, it's hand wound but so what? Chronograph functions work quite well and feels solid on the 'ole wrist. Congrats on your catch. Enjoy!!

Congrats that's a nice looking piece. I have a question, are the pushers/crown screw down. I have a 1963 re-issued of the Chinese Air Force chrono and so far it's been a winner. It's a hand wound chrono pretty watch. The Newman looks very cool too.
