bajamaja 0 Posted June 25, 2017 Hi I wonder about the prices on gen parts for a Rolex Submariner. How much does it cost to buy this parts? (in USD or Euro). -Bezel -Crystal with date window -Bracelet -Dial -Movement -The case thanks for your knowledge :)
tomtom1988 63 Posted June 25, 2017 About £7.5k, you've basically listed the whole of a sub broken down into parts Edit: £6.25k going by Rolex.com

tomtom1988 63 Posted June 25, 2017 Basically by the time you franken it with all those bits and bobs and have a cobbled together rep, you'd have spent as much as you would have on a gen, never understood this franken business myself (aside from maybe a gen insert )
BadPickle 2,738 Posted June 25, 2017 What rep are you starting with? My concept of franken is to add gen bits and bobs to a rep, looks like you're collecting for a straight build.

Like pickle said add some bits and bobs but please don't add a gen crown and claim it's a franken!
RUSH2112 11 Posted June 25, 2017 Most people are content with starting with a good case and adding a gen insert and crystal and maybe crown. The dials are pretty good and why do you want a gen movement in it?

I can make profit if i sell not that i like to sell my builds.the trick of building frankens is take your time .it could take years looking to find the parts cheap.but its worth it.i never buy the first bezel or part i see unless its cheap.otherwise i pass and wait for another one to show up cheaper lots of waiting.there is no point building a franken if the final build is near the cost of a gen.and then you lose money selling.so shop around guys and be hella patient. Get the parts cheap and build the sub c franken for instance, will be an investment just like a gen 116610 and will hold value and even go up Edited July 31, 2017 by live1

By-Tor 0 Posted July 31, 2017 In the old days the rep dials were shite. Like the white 16570. I had one with gen dial, correct hand stack and excellent rep case. That made sense. But now the dials might be so good that there's no point changing them.

dennisaston 0 Posted August 4, 2017 I've got a tc sub c and have managed to break my clasp when I fell on concrete a few weeks ago. It's bent out of shape and unwearable. I'm thinking of getting a gen clasp or entire bracelet whilst I'm at it. Looked on eBay but anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks

If you have checked the prices, you might already have a subconscious feeling of how reasonable a gen bracelet is on a rep (just price wise). Either try to get a TC bracelet or try to find out if others fit. Just my 2 cents
dennisaston 0 Posted December 30, 2017 Hi, i managed to buy a gen bracelet. To be honest it’s quite noticeable against my Tc bracelet! It feels more solid on the wrist and tighter. Anyway im actually putting the Tc and the bracelet up for sale now as I’m toying with buying a SD4000. Regards

To think a franken build will actually go up in value will lead to disappointment.
