Setting to Make Messages Arrive via Email?

Recommended Posts

Am I missing a setting? Not sure when this stopped, but I used to get an email alert when receiving a private message. Still possible?

My Settings (under your name at the top) - Notification Options - Scroll down to private messages - the middle column of boxes is for email

Thanks. All checked. They must be hitting junk mail land. I don't find them there either. NBD I guess.

Depends what email "thingy" you use, from memory the forum server doesn't like hotmail and all its friends, but quite likes gmail and all it's friends.....

Or maybe it's t'other way round, or something like that......... :ohwell:

If you ask greg_r nicely he'll tell you the same but using tech-nerd-boffin type street jibe :D

More correctly - hotmail don't like us. They block most of our emails as do some others (due to the subject matter of the board, I guess). Gmail tends to be the most reliable of the free mail providers.

Thanks guys. I'm a gmail user, but they seem to be lost in space. I log in consistently enough that I am not too concerned about investigating in greater depth.

Free in the monetary sense, but we all pay out the ass in personal information to Google, who makes a healthy profit on selling that info. They make almost 80% of their revenue from advertising sales alone. It's a great business model they've got over there.

Odd - I've never had a problem with gmail delivering notifications (in 9 years of using for board-related stuff).

Dunno then, sorry. FWIW one of the many jobs on my list is to look into ways of improving this particular situation. My problem, as always, is finding the time to do it.

Too bad it's not worth shit.

Well I mean, there are many gullible twats out there, and they keep this shit going. I don't know what all the different companies throughout the years have spent on my personal infos, but I've never fallen for "personalized ads" before. I buy what I want to, but I have never bought anything off of an ad.

It's pretty obvious, and I see through all the marketing they throw at me. I don't mind it, I just think it's silly. But hey, I get free social medias and e-mails and stuff!

Thanks, Greg--unless the other 89,999 peops bumpin around here are bothered by it, don't let this keep you up at night!
