You'll have to hit the link twice to get in for some reason.

"Best Rolex sports range ever replicated" according to the sales pitch. Anyone got any comments? He also has the 5512 and 5513 listed.

Sure. That's Joshua from Perfect Clones. Great dealer other than being a little higher priced than most.

Hmm. For me, if you open the first time to the main page and then open another tab it will take you to the correct page. Don't know the problem.

Yes, long time ago, before we had Mary and Robert.

It's Josh Dropshipper.

Looks the same as the PT version but without the 2846. No?

I don't know about this particular model, but I ordered the $98 COMEX SD from him. It claimed it fit gen crystal and did!

Other than the terrible yellow lume, I think it is a pretty good rep. I relumed it, and it was pretty much waterproof out of the box (not to say that it would be for someone else).

The only part that looked like it was leaking was the rep crystal. I ordered another from Clarks, and it fit exactly right. I didn't have a bezel press, so in this order I:

1. Put the crystal on the watch

2. Then put the retaining ring on.

I then pressed it down with a lever case opener. After I did this, I tested it to 3 bar (limit of my tester), and it passed.

Overall, for $200, it is a really good buy, IMHO. One caveat is to make sure that the QC photos exactly match the watch you ordered. I ordered the Sub 5513 and got the SD 1665. In my case that was fine, but it could be a potential problem.

Good luck with whatever you wind up getting! :)

What size dial does it take, have you checked it out?

It didn't even occur to me to check! While I had it apart, I should've taken all kinds of measurements. All I was concerned with was the insane amount of dust getting in the case while I was taking it apart...

I bought one of these from Josh as well but it was a red submariner. I asked Josh about the version with the 2846 and he said to stear clear of it - that the 2836 version was the best made out there with superior text on the dial and much brighter stainless. When I got the watch I immediately noticed how fast the hands turned when setting the time and knew it wasn't a 2836 movement. I opened it up and it turned out to be a highbeat 21j movement. While the caseback was off I also noticed the engraving on the inside caseback said 5512 not 1680. I also noticed the engraving between the lugs said "Polex Orig. Design"... Nice. I liked the dial indice color very much but your eyes were immediately drawn toward the red submariner text... It was misaligned with the text below it and above it... Ouch!!

I told Josh about the movement and sent him a pic. He said he accidently sent me the $98 version. I asked that he refund me $100 which brought the cost down to the $98 version and he did. People say he drop ships but on his site it says that he has a very strict QC policy in place. I would have thought QC would have picked up on the wrong movement, the bad text and bad engraving. These were things I could not pick up on in the QC pics. The "Polex" on the case pretty much stops me from further building on this watch.

One other thing that stands out about that transaction: He emailed me and ask that I not post the QC pics because it would only generate unfounded comments and damage my relationship with him regarding the transaction. I felt kind of uneasy about that but I honored his wishes.

I have a 1680 on order from Puretime. When it arrives I will do a side by side comparison. I hope Angus's 1680 is a better starting place to build on one of my favorite watches - the 1680 Red Submariner.

Tressler.

The original "Polex" was a highly regarded case. That was the original MBK/MBW watch case which is actually quite sought after by some of the modders since it's ability to use most gen parts including gen bezel and crystal.

Well it is a very nice caseset for sure with the exception of the bezel ring. The bezel ring spun on the case freely. QC should have picked up on that as well. I have a little dental floss under it to keep it tight. I am planning on finding an engraver to turn the P into an R. There is nothing I can do with the dial text but replace the dial. I have high hopes for the Puretime 1680. I will dissect, measure, photograph and report my findings after I get it. At that point I may combine parts for a "best of" the two watches.

So what about the Puretime 1680?

Remember, if the bezel spring is too loose, pry the bezel up and put a few bends in the spring/washer. That's how they are supposed to be on gens!
