JLC Navy Seals: How satisfied are you with your watch?

Recommended Posts

ryaku

Just a short poll to collect feedback and opinions.

No need to say I would like to get feedback from the owners of the JLC rep. :D

If the judgement is negative, please explain the reason (eg, bad bracelet, insufficient AR...).

Thanks for reading

I have one with asian clone movement, and I am absolutely happy with it. I was swimming in lake with it many times last summer, with no problem. Bracelet is nice, comfortable, rubber doesnt wear off. Only small issue is that there is small piece of lume liquid dropped from 5 hour mark - but it is definitely problem of my piece only.

"It would be interesting to motivate a negative judgement."

ryaku - why this?

I read it once again and you are right, It was not clear

Just to have visibility on downsides and weaknesses of the watch...real or perceived. That was the meaning of the sentence.

I sold one and felt the void only to buy it again a week later. Very satisfied

Mine is of high quality and still looks amazing after wearing daily for over 18 months...I get more comments on this than my gen rolex sub green!

The positives...it keeps great time, and the attention to detail in the looks/build is fantastic

The negatives...the screws in the strap came loose and needed constant tightening (fixed with blue loctite) and the bezel turns fairly easily.

The problem now is that any rep I buy needs to be of this standard (or better!)... AP Diver v6 perhaps?

Yep,

AP Diver (it wears too large for my taste) , 42mm LMPO (excellent rep out of the box and decent price), IWC Vintage (in my wish list as well), Blackbay Tudor (lunette blu...I wish the color was correct but a gen insert might be available sooner or later)

Thanks Ryaku, LMPO could be a good shout....I feel my next purchase is not far away!

If you are comfortable with a 42mm watch that wears a little smaller, you cannot go wrong with the Noob 42mm LMPO. Go for it!

Very lose bezel, wouldn't accept it for a 20€ watch.

Distance from the lug holes to case don't allow a decent Zulu/nato strap.

Good points although gen is exactly the same (I read similar comments for the bezel, on a gen forum)

I still love mine, got it a while back from cyril and it's still a stunner. OK the bezel is a bit loose but I just turn back if it moves.

I've held a used gen at Tourneau near me and was not too impressed. Bracelet and clasp definitely felt flimsy. Maybe someone slipped a rep into their collection but that is doubtful. Since that experience I have never been to interested in the rep.

I owned an asian version for awhile then ultimately sold it because it wasn't really my style. I thought the construction was fantastic and it oozed quality. My bezel was tight and the lume application even. I can't find my pic with the caseback off, but the detailing on the movement and movement holder was great, and 99.9% of people will never even see under there. Overall I was very impressed.

Pros: about time we got a decent JLC (not just PAMs, Rollies, Omega)

Making this rep must have been HARD -- no parts identical to other reps except mvmt

Cons: bezel triangle issues (needed to replace when fell off)

Movevent needed service after less than a year

Overall feels like better-to-high-end rep quality with typical rep issues, and unlike any other watch available, so I'm gonna say very satisfied overall

How satisfied are you lot, with Joran's pink undies, MNAji sexual favours and the Andies still roaming about?

Discuss

I've has my JLC for many months now and it still feels special.

It looks great on the wrist - not too big nor too small for my 7.25" wrist. The build quality is very good, not perfect but very good. My bezel is tight, but it does turn both ways. The lume isn't the strongest but typical rep, but it does have a nice white-blue glow when charged. The bracelet has been fine, maybe the previous owned glued the bracelet screws in place but so far I've not had any problems.

Got one with a swiss movement : nice week end watch. My opinion is that its a great watch if you have some others to wear : its size and design lack of versatility but i still enjoy it :)

Extremely happy with mine.

UK watch services serviced / regulated it, I have loctited the bracelet screws (I love the articulated

rubber bracelet - very comfortable) and use it as my daily beater.

Lume could be a tad brighter / longer lasting.

Extremely legible in daylight, less so in poor light (not just 'cos of the lume).

Overall, aesthetically I would give it a strong 9/10.

Recommended !!

Managed to get hold of a Swiss version as well - love mine.

Only downside I have found is that apparently its a pain the arse to get re-lumed. (According to Kenny)
