_DC_ 218 Posted September 5, 2015 At time of writing this is (almost) the full extent of the current DC collection. We're down to 11, one of which isn't pictured which is my DateJust (it's on loan), but here's the rest... My most worn occupy the winder for obvious reasons, the 5227g and the 5711a, that's formal and casual nicely taken care of in two Miyota powered time and date only watches... Then easily the next most used watch in my stable, the 5970g, it's not perfect but it's as close as a rep is likely to get, great size, superb genuine gator strap, deployant clasp, and solid as a rock, this thing never rattles or makes any sound, super classy. It's neighbour is the questionably modified "RWG tiffany dial sub" which I've dubbed as that in light of the fact it's been owned by a significant number of members here... and it has a tiffany dial. It has unexplainably long power reserve despite being completely un-waterproof... Oh A7750 movements, how I hate thee. Both my 5980s (the r and the a) have issues. One barely winds and so stops constantly, and the other the crown no longer screws down, which isn't technically the A7750s fault but still, all my other watches are fine so why these two gotta give me grief?! They're very pretty though, the 5980r sports a few scrapes on the bezel from my stag do, so it has sentimental value for that reason, and as it's broken I couldn't sell it anyway, but maybe one day I'll get her fixed... or the A7750 replaced! And alongside the chronos the rarest of my collection, to this day the only one I have seen anywhere, the 5107g on another lovely gen gator strap, and the 5711g which I bought then sold then bought again and will never sell again (till I go gen maybe) which is on gen Patek strap... Then, for when I'm feeling a little like a pimp, the Royal Oak Chronograph in full rose gold! Bling aside it's a superb watch, and being quartz it's always ready to wear. And last but by no means least, occupying the Patek box, one of my oldest reps besides the DateJust, the SW200 version of the Aquanaut. Good for any occasion, reliable silent movement, understated and still the most comfortable watch I've ever worn... So there you have it. Still not a great deal of brand variety, but that's about to change with a little something I have incoming !! Feel free to lend me your thoughts!! Peace out... Godfathar 1 Posted September 5, 2015 Weird enough. I know all your collection, (swear not a stalker), only one I never knew about is the Tiffany sub. It's totally unexpected! I'm sad and a bit disappointed to know that both 7750 watches are giving you trouble. I know how much you love this model. Do you think all of them have issues? Or you weren't lucky with yours? Still I don't see myself getting one anytime soon but eventually I will. I know myself. Wear your collection in good health my friend. And looking forward to seeing the one you saw at Dubai airport in the gen section soon.

I don't know if they all have issues or if I've just been unlucky, or maybe because I bought some of the first ones when they came out maybe they hadn't quite perfected them yet, lol! I do wish I'd bought the grey dial in rose gold rather than the brown, so maybe I'll buy the grey dial and transplant the movement and dial into my case. The Donerix strap I have on it is the best he ever made for me, really looks like the gen strap! DC
George. 34 Posted September 6, 2015 Ah, so you have the Tiffany dial sub now! I bought that from Andrew about 2 years ago Who else has owned it? I know there ire a few others but it would be interesting to map its progress through the membership
George. 34 Posted September 6, 2015 PS, I think the 'questionable mods' are due to someone sticking the dial and hands in an oven or something.... Weird.

dudermania 0 Posted September 6, 2015 Beautiful collection mate. I do sincerely believe that a collection isn't just a bunch of watches that you buy - there needs to be a thought behind it and an ethos and your collection is really up there. I've been thinking to get a a 5970 myself actually - is that a faux moonphase? Is there a really good version out there at the moment?

You'll struggle with the 5970 mate, not available any longer and not aware of anyone else who's got one. It's worth checking with TS watches just in case it's back but I know a few people who've tried and failed! DC
Martijn0007 3 Posted September 8, 2015 Great collection DC! I have to say, I've sold most of my reps and didn't plan on buying any new ones but I'm seriously tempted to get a 5227g now....

reklamezonen 0 Posted September 23, 2015 Hey DC, why did you sold your 5711g at first time... Why did you change your mind? the reason i ask is because I m considering ordering one myself. And of course a nice collection of pateks
_DC_ 218 Posted September 23, 2015 Hey DC, why did you sold your 5711g at first time... Why did you change your mind? the reason i ask is because I m considering ordering one myself. And of course a nice collection of pateks It was at the time that the AP 15400 rep first came out with the engraved rotor and I became obsessed by getting one, but they were expensive and selling the 5711g was the only way I could afford it. I didn't wear the 5711g much so figured I wouldn't miss it..... BIG MISTAKE!!! I spent the next year or so begging the new owner to sell it back to me but he didn't want to, I was gutted, but eventually he sold it to me!! It still doesn't get much wrist time, but I've learned my lesson. The best way I can describe it is that it's like your favourite film. I love the Shawshank Redemption, it's my absolute favourite film, but I don't watch it every day, I haven't watched it for months, but that doesn't mean I don't love it, does it?! It's the same with the 5711g, it's superb, it's perfect, I love it, but I only feel like wearing it occasionally! DC

No, Patek don't use AR on their watches so don't need it on the reps! DC
