My first Genuine.

After having pulled together a modest collection of reps, I stopped last year, mainly as I was going travelling for 6 months but also with it in mind that when I got back home and saving my next watch would be a Gen. I've struggled for ages as there are many watches I would love to own, but at the weekend I spotted this and it spoke to me. It's a 1990 (26 yr old) 16220 date just, and hopefully I got a reasonable deal too as it was just shy of £2k with box, paperwork and a 2yr guarantee? Found it a bit hard to really understand the pricing on pre-owned datejusts, just due to the sheer number of variants, but having found few for under 2k and being willing to pay that regardless I pulled the trigger. Really happy with it.

A classic watch and one of the best dials IMHO. Great choice - enjoy it, mate!

A classic that will never go out of fashion & that you should never grow tired of.

I too am planning to supplement my collection with one of these as I don't have a jubilee bracelet/ fluted bezel yet.

Looks like the right sort of money too.

Enjoy it in the rudest of health.

I wish they made a 46mm of that, so it would look in the same proportion on MY wrist as it does yours.

Fantastic choice. Elegant and understated, until you run into someone that knows what they are looking at.

Thanks for the nice comments! I actually bought it as an engagement present to myself (popped the question Weds eve), so going for something that will stand the test of time was important.

Needless to say the ring sucked up a load more monies than the watch, but I don't think I would've been tempted by anything more tastey regardless.

All in all been a good week :)

Beautiful and distinctive watch, congrats. Imho well done and soon You won´t see them at that price anymore. Wish I could travel (with time) to London to search for/ grab one, it´s a good moment with the GBP/EUR exchange rate and the moment won´t last long (either 2nd hand prices go up in GB or the £ gets stronger again).

She's a beauty.

I have a 1982 16014 DJ. Mine has the fluted dial too and I love it.

I wore it as a sheet metal worker for 24 years but since its last service, it has become a box queen. Still, you can't beat that frisson when you lift the lid!

Wear it well indeed.
