Tudor Pelagos LHD

A quick ish review on the Tudor Pelagos LHD - please don't expect photoshoot pictures or digital caliper measurements, it's more just my thoughts having worn it for the last week...

I ordered this at release, and was pretty impressed when it arrived before Xmas. They retail at £3020, which in my opinion is pretty well priced for a full titanium watch with an in house movement.

So, it's a good watch. As far as timekeeping goes - it tells me the time! I have no idea if it is within a second a day or so, but it seems ok to me.

The things I like are:

  • It's a Lefty - I wear my watch on my left wrist, and this means no crown in the back of my hand with the LHD.
  • It looks new and vintage at the same time. The off white markings and the red text are just cool.
  • The roulette datewheel.
  • The weight - there isn't any, Ti construction is really nice and light, without feeling flimsy in any way.
  • The clasp is very, very good. Great adjustability, and the divers extension is super easy to operate. I have a DSSD with an extension that is so finicky it's just annoying.
  • The lume is awesome. Better than Seiko awesome.

The things I'm not sure about:

  • The bezel insert is slightly off centre of a full click. I'll be going back to get this sorted.
  • The crown guards are off centre of the crown (heightwise) This has no bearing on useability, just me not really liking how it looks.
  • That's about it really...

Will I keep it? I don't know. I've put my MLC Pontos Diver on today, and don't feel like I need to go back to the LHD. I seem to have built a collection of the same type of watches, and now have the decision to just keep them as fun collectable things, or be sensible and sell them (probably to buy more fun collectable things)

So there you go, my review of sorts..!

No idea yet, took it off for the first time this morning, so will keep an eye on it over the next few days.

James.

Love ot, a great extension of a line from imo the one swiss watch company that seems to be making a concerted effort to adapt to a changing consumer environment. Montecarlo, homerun. Blackbay, homerun. Pelagos, homerun. Fastrider and northflag, base hits. Not too shabby.

The ranger is not too shabby too...

Too bad Asian consumers are still not picking up/ getting over the Tudor is a child of Rolex... hence inferior mindset

Yep, this is one of the reasons why I think I would keep it. I like what Tudor are doing and where they seem to be going.

Now need to add a Moser to the collection one of the new ones without 'swiss made' on the dial - support the movement :D

Ah forgot about the Ranger, also a good waych though probably gets a bit lost amongst the others. Call that one... a double

Asian luxury market... seems to be more about price =exclusively =success irrespective of design, usefulness or intrinsic value. A dont think a cultural shift large enough yould happen to boost the tudor appeal there. If tudor started selling at a $50k blackbay they might have some success in Macau

Great addition to the collection Piccolo, looks nicely at home on your wrist.

Fully agree with the observations about the Tudor marque too, they have produced some wonderful pieces recently.

Hopefully you do keep it as a permanent fixture.
