Thanks GentLe, this was given as a xmas pressie, i believe it to be a gold case with SS bracelet with gold plates attatched but cannot see any hallmarks.

It seems a 9ct gold (different model): http://www.antiques-..._1968/as170a359

It's quite strange to have it with quartz: those watches all dates back to 1960 when quartz was not existent... Not worth a lot probably, similar watches from Rotary comes for around 150£ with a handwind movement. A quartz should be less valuable (but ok, there's the bracelet which should be gold too)

I was thinking the same but there is loads of wear to the case but no sign of plate coming off

And usually a hallmark on the underside of a lug.
