simey83 2,009 Posted July 2, 2014 Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has thoughts on this announcement today? A really big deal? http://www.christopherward.co.uk/ "Perhaps the most important development for a British watch brand in 50 years" Seems it's their own in-house movement! Dr. Jimmy 29 Posted July 2, 2014 Cool, but I suppose getting them serviced just got trickier.
Markrfc 3 Posted July 2, 2014 Power reserve is great but price point at £1500 its not for me.
simey83 2,009 Posted July 2, 2014 Cool, but I suppose getting them serviced just got trickier. Right enough, never thought of that! Power reserve is great but price point at £1500 its not for me. Yea, bit steep!
trailboss99 994 Posted July 2, 2014 It could well be the start of something big, Chris thinks big but long term. It's a lovely watch and an interesting movement.
rusty peters 0 Posted July 2, 2014 Is it a 21,600 or 28,800 movement? I like what they are doing!!
greg_r 81 Posted July 2, 2014 Interesting movement. I'm rather 'meh' about the watch, but I suspect that we'll be seeing more of the movement in due course. As Col says - Chris thinks big
George. 34 Posted July 2, 2014 It's really nice to see his happening. Hopefully, smaller companies will follow suit.
not_finbar 0 Posted July 2, 2014 It's really nice to see his happening. Hopefully, smaller companies will follow suit. Well, Christopher Ward are hardly rivalling LVMH or the Swatch Group. If you want a small British watch manufacturer there's Schofield, Robin Loomes, Bremont (okay, they're not that small)...

True, but it's nice to see people taking steps towards developing their own in house movements rather than relying on Swatch. I'm not too familiar with those first two brands, I'll take a look! Cheers!
not_finbar 0 Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) Don't get me wrong, it's great news . I'd love a Robin Loomes though: Edited July 2, 2014 by not_finbar

Mike 1108 0 Posted July 2, 2014 The first time I've seen a power reserve above 70 hours for less than $8,000-$10,000. Would be interesting to see the accuracy of the movement over the 5 days. At $2,000, it's not in Panerai/Rolex/AP money either. It's a good thing, overall.

You just lost me Chris, get with the trends, case sizes are coming back to 40mm, everyone knows that!!! DC +1 36-40mm is plenty for a dresser.... The main thing that got me back into watches after years was the fact that they got bigger. Anything under 40 looks silly on me and I'm not interested so I like the size and the watch.
