Pam 111n v4 broken at the third day

Recommended Posts

Hello I just bought 2 pam 111 v4 from Toro. I received them on thursday, one was for my brother and the other one for me. My brother´s one works perfect but mine had the crown that sometimes I couldn't close it when I opened it to change the time. This morning the watch has stopped and it doesn´t work. I know that if I send it to Toro he will repair it but I am afraid of customs because I had to pay 168 € (dhl) in Spain and with normal mail it will take a long time. Is there a way to send it to China again with DHL without paying customs?? I understand I don't have to pay more taxes because I have already paid for them. Or maybe would be better to send it to repair it here in Europe although I have to pay for It. Thank you for the information!!!!

If you send it to China be prepared to wait several months.

I would consider a local watchmaker + a discount from Toro on your next purchase

This seems to be an issue for this version - I have also a 111 V4 from Toro (I also have a 417 from H-maker. This one is easy to close even if it fullwind)

My solution is not wind it up full, and absolutely not force the crown to close.

If you wait 30 min it will be possible to just click it forward a little bit, and then close it easy.

As it didn't´t work I have handwinded it to the maximum and I can´t handwind it more. Thank you!!!

I bought three recently for myself and friends. All them have a Crown that to some extent is difficult to push back into the winding position. I have found that either using the Crown lever to push it back or pushing the crown in at slight angle works.

My one has also stopped twice. The first time I unscrewed that back of the case and gave the balance wheel a gentle nudge which got it going again. The second time a sharp tap with the hand got it going again.

Hopefully this will be of some help to you.

The root of the stem problems in all 6497 is pretty always one: the stem retaining screw tighten too much, or lose.

This one:

If the stem is too hard, just unscrew it half turn and it will be much more easy to operate.

If the stem doesn't go back in the winding position, probably it's too lose: it works on the setting lever, which is in friction contact with the stem. If it completely unscrewed it dislodges the setting lever and the movement must be partially disassembled (movement out, hands away and dial removed) to put it back correctly. See figure 4 and 5 here: http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=61645

Ask Toro for a new movement, tell him if he pays for the movement you will pay for it switching, a bit of give and take is always good :)

If you do send, regular or non regular, make sure you get a tracking number. I lost one piece without tracking

The manual wind PAMs are pretty reliable so don't worry about your purchase from toro. By the way, the OP had already had the watch repaired locally and toro offered him a discount on the next watch (it's on another thread).
