Rolex Sea Dweller 4000, issue with Date

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all doing well.

I need your help here, as my knowledges are very poor when it comes to watches.

I bought my first replica (SD 4000 Noob v1) on here last week and was very happy :)

Well the time is running well, the watch looks good but the date wont change.

It changed the first day i got it then it remained stucked. I can change it manually though, but thats just wrong (even my cheapest watches change their date on their own)...

I tried to set the date to the day before, fix the time and wait 24 hours. Still no change. Also i never changed the time (or released the crown) during 10pm and 2am ( i believe its what you guys call a dead zone )

The movement is Asian Eta 2813 Automatic Movement.

So if anyone could help me fix this ? It would be highly appreciated :)

A 2813 and an asian ETA are 2 completely different movement, if its a 2813 then its probably easier to change the movement than to try and fix it

He just forgot "or".

2813 = 138$ special price

Asian eta = 100$ more

You can choose the movement on this watch.

What did you pay? If 138$ then it is a 2813 nothing to share with an eta clone.

In the spec Toro lists the 2 movements Asian Clone ETA or 2813, granted it probably should have a " / " in there to make it clearer but not really necessary as you select the movement from the dropdownj, so again, which did you get... 2813 or Asian ETA?

Its a DG2813 - which means you can buy a replacement movement for about $20 and then you need to remove the hands, dial, date wheel overlay and then stick on the overlay, replace dial and hands and put it all together.

Not a newbie job but something a watchsmith could quickly do for you. But you might consider changing up to the ETA movement then...

Thank you for the answer Dendo :) So i assume theres nothing i can do except changing the movement right ? Im kind of disappointed with that as its the frist rep i bought :/

Do you have any adresses on where i could buy this movement ? Also do you know how much a watchsmith would charge me for such a service ? I paid 155$ for the watch i hope the service isnt gonna be the same price :/

Changing up to the ETA isn't that simple though, he would need the new movement, new hands, a new movement retainer ring and probably a new DWO.

You can order a new 2813 directly from eBay or you can ask one of our TDs:

True - the hands will be different and the retainer ring needs to be right - best to stick now with the 2813 - you can get lucky with these movements - some are very good..

Well you may try to see what is wrong in yours. But if you never disassembled some movements and you don't have the right tools it will be a disaster probably. 2813 isn't the easiest movement around...

It'd be worth having a go yourself, you can pick up the tools fairly cheap.

The movements aren't expensive either, there's plenty of guides about the forums explaining the processes of removing hands, dials etc..

Or you could sell it as is and buy a replacement.

I wouldn't let this discourage you from m2m deals, the same could've happened had you purchased from a TD, they're replica watches at the end of the day.

In fact, I had a very similar situation to you!

A couple of years ago I bought a 26mm datejust for my wife via an m2m deal that arrived dead.

After much tinkering with the movement I knackered the balance hair Spring but that gave me the confidence and experience to source and replace the movement entirely.

Good luck, need any help let me know.

Dave

Thank you for your advices Dave. I dont feel confident enough to fix it myself though... I was hoping there was a little trick to fix this date issue but apparently not...

Oh well lesson learned, i guess i will have to buy from a TD next time instead of a RWG member.

Where do you find a DG2813 for $20? I keep seeing posts about $10 and $20 for these movements and the cheapest I have found is at least 50% more. $30 shipped is as cheap as I have seen them and I've looked a lot. I want a $20 shipped movement!

In addition he'd need new hands, dial, and a movement to go ETA. And pay a watchsmith.

Why should he go ETA? He just need one of these: http://www.ebay.it/itm/221759285244

I'm no expert by all means! But I can do a movement swap, if you want to send it to me I'll change the movement for you. Just cover the shipping costs. I have a spare that I can throw in it for you.

While i appreciate the gesture, i cant take any risks. The watch may get lost during shipping. You never know what can happen. Thx for proposing a solution though
