Quick question on 2824-2 winding bridge

Recommended Posts

MDK

I recently picked up a gen 2824-2, gave it a full service and popped it into my AP diver got it nicely regulated to within 4 secs per day

However I have noticed that the rotor seems to have some backlash on it, the movement is wound in the next video, but I don't recall my other movements behaving in this way, not sure if I have a reversing gear issue in the winding bridge or not.

Any advice ?

How does it spins when rotated? There is pressure put back on the autoworks from the mainspring so some tension is expected. Then again, that does seem pretty "tight"

I have not Tested it unwound (i should) but the rotor doesn't spin freely as it stands, it just seems to jump in 1/4 turns, I definitely have pressure from the mainspring it seems a lot to me though, manual winding works fine no issues with click Spring that I can see

I've had one do the same thing and I'd put my money on the reversing pawls. I usually swap them and the keyless works with gen ETA parts on any rep I get - makes the crown/wind feel SO much better.

Thank you, that seems to confirm my thoughts on the reverse wheels, i guess they may need replacing or a soak in one dip

That's normal mate.

The problem is if it was spinning back half rotation or so.

Let it fully discharge and you will see it will not do that anymore: it happens only when the movement is well charge.

I had some issues with the power reserve which made me assume the automatic device , it turns out it's ok, the problem came from the Asian rotor on the AP diver, it has absolutely no weight to it so it couldn't wind the watch properly, I fit a swatch rotor and my issues seems to have cleared up with the auto wind.

Why you would remove all the material from a rotor I have no idea

Defective one. Mine isn't without the weight... By the way my 2824/36s (with good rotors) do the same as yours when fully charged and laying face down.

I did swap the automatic device and got the same behaviour, so yeah it was good, all seems ok now with a new weight, no more crappy power reserve

If you're interested in an AP rotor I still have mine. Since its closed back I just put an ETA on it. Much better IMO.

Very generous offer, mine is a closed back

As well, "ETA inside" so will keep the ETA rotor on it it think.

Thank you for the offer though, very kind
