Which Cellini? I think most of them are UV glued which is not for the average, everyday, custom glove wearer.

Hi, thanks for reply to this and perhaps I'm just getting old, but I cannot figure out how to attach an image here so, quick google on Cellini for example pic below:

The rep I have cost £70 so no big loss but I liked it so, before it goes in the bin, I wondered if replacing the glass might be feasible?

Sorry I cant be better informed like some of the whizz kids here

Cheers

Pretty sure that's glued on the gen. Likely the rep is too.

If it's a cheap rep, it's probably mineral glass which is easy to get. Glueing it in with UV cement is really tough to get right.

Thanks - so perhaps to the bin with this one and look out for a replacement - I do like the cellini as a dress watch so the search starts for a new one - any pointers in this respect greatly appreciated.

That crystal is probably a couple quid at Cousins. If you can't do it put it up for sale on M2M. Someone will buy it. I'd fix it for you but I'm on the wrong side of the pond and you can get one of those from narikaa nearly for the cost of shipping and your sale.

Thanks - tried a search on Cousins for "cellini", "rolex crystal", etc. but there seems no results for cellini  -

You need the correct size, glasses are sold that way: material, diameter and thickness

LOL. You don't want a Rolex crystal. Measure the crystal edge to edge with a caliper (or failing that a ruler). You want a round mineral crystal in the appropriate size. I imagine it is domed. Measure the edge of the crystal to get the thickness.

This is really simple but you do have to know how to take a movement out and press in a crystal.

See the are only 1.15 quid.

Ok, that was totally stupid of me - I certainly don't want to shell out for the real deal !!

Learning by the minute - I reckon in ten years I'll have this watch stuff all sussed - if I'm still here !!

Thanks

I don't think that crystal is pressed.

I had a badly scratched crystal in my Railmaster XXL.

I contacted the TD I bought the watch from, and they supplied me with a new case, complete with crystal, at a reasonable price.

Only needed to transplant the movement.

Maybe the TD you got the watch from could offer a similar service.

I've only dealt with one TD and had some good watches and some not so good, TD has repaired one but broke again, then waited a long time for replacement and kinda gave up. These are cheap so appreciate you get what you pay for.

Thanks Mr_baldwin - I am now in contact with Rolie who picked up on this thread and offered advise and help - what a star !!!!

When I figure out how to post pics, hopefully might have a before and after shot of the Cellini - still love the bloody watch.

WOW - all watches back from Rolie and BETTER than when I received them new from the TD ! :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Turned out that the Cellini was not a glued in crystal.

Brilliant work by Rolie at a very very very reasonable - in fact, ridiculous low cost (but don't tell Rolie I said so !! :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Thanks to all for the help given and thanks to Rolie for another job well done.
