Recommended Posts

aldo_watch

Hey guys, this morning I tried to drill the 1655 cartel case with Dremel and a "drill" for steel. Anyway, it tourned out that the case is heavy!!! I wasn't able to do that and I destroied 3 drills....

Could you suggest me a proper 1,3mm drill tahat can work with the case steel?

thanks!

AND you need a drill press, 700 rpm, and cutting fluid. Go slow.

Is there a tutorial for drilling the lugs when they're not drilled through? Some way of lining the drill up with the spring bar holes on the inside of the lugs?

No. Only person I know who can do that is JMB and he has CNC equipment. I've got a couple of ruined cases that says I can't do it.

1.25mm cobalt drill bit, and do NOT use Dremel, it is way too fast. Use an normal drill and lubricate the bit.

I did mine with such tool and it was perfect.

What do you mean for "normale drill". With my dremel toosl I can change fast roation and I've altrady done work like that... Anyway, I have to find the proper drill bit..

What size is the hole to begin with? I generally would work up sizes in small increments, 0.8 0.9 1.0 1.1 1.2 etc... easier to drill with less stress on the case

If you have a good bit (like a cobalt one) you lubricate it and you run the correct speed (400rpm or less, give or take) you can do it in one shot and it goes in like a warm knife in butter.

A cobalt bit 1.25mm is around 2,5Eur, so doable.

If you get the bracelet to fit after you've drilled the case, I'd be amazed!!

No problem at all for me. I just had to drill also the springbar hole in the last link of the bracelet to fit the gen-like springbar :)
