Sharpie vs Strap

Recommended Posts

LightGeek

In preparation of my watch purge, I gave a few watches a second chance (new strap, new bracelet, etc) and one of the ones on the chopping block was the PAM 688. The watch itself is fabulous, but the rep blue strap isn't quite there -- and as such, I never really got into this watch. To give it a second life, I've reached out to a strapmaker but in the meantime, tossed on a deep burgundy strap. While it worked ok, I would rather have the stitching a golden brown to better work with the golden hands and sandwich dial.

As a last ditch attempt, I thought I'd try and color the stitching carefully using a Sharpie and was pleasantly surprised when the thread simply wicked the color right in. I didn't have to do anything other than hold the tip against each stitch for a moment or two and the color wicked quickly onto the thread.

I actually did something similar to the stitching on the steering wheel of an old car I had used a red sharpie and it really did work

Lol.

When I was at school in the 80's I used to taper my school uniform flared trousers inside leg seam on my mum's sewing machine so they became drainpipe trousers. I could only find white thread so did it anyway, then would sit at the back of class with a sharpie doing my inside leg stiching
