I'm gonna get flamed but here goes - Rubber B content

So my SD4000 from Reg is my go-to watch. Rather than end up with a black wrist after working out, I decided to get a rep Rubber B for it. In fact, I somehow ordered two, one M2M next door and one from an ebay seller who is popular for such things, here.

So they arrived within a day of each other. I managed to get the M2M one on, but with great difficulty and I had to install it 'backward' because the non-cuttable side at 6 oclock was quite long and made the clasp sit too far to the outside of my wrist. Then the other one arrived and the 6oclock side was considerably shorter, like the 4 links I normally wear my SD on, shorter, so perfect.

I tried last night to get the bugger on and despite my best efforts (and I have removed and replaced straps and bracelets ad nauseum, so I'm no noob at this)... and I can't get the damn thing on. Yet the bracelet pops on like buttah. I'm thinking the holes on the Rubber Bs must be in the wrong spot as the bars won't just pop into the lug holes.

Am I missing something? Feel like a noob of the highest order.

I had the same problem with a rep rubber B I tried to put on a sub. I finally gave up and threw the thing away, the rubber started tearing and it looked like shit, and still wasn't going onto the case. I even tried to shave it down to fit but there was a plastic piece inside the rubber that wouldn't allow it to sit flush against the case so that I could get the pins into the holes. The only thing I might suggest trying is curved pins, but those are also a pain in the ass to work with.

Before coming accross this forum I made the mistake of getting myself a gen rubber-b for my Milgauss, and to be honest I struggled getting that on as well, baring in mind I didnt even have a springbar tool. I do remember how I eventually got it on and the way I did it was once the springbar was actually in the strap, I didnt have the watch and strap flat, more curved like it was already on the wrist, then it went on easy.

Also having the watch face down on a table made it much easier.

Apologies if that made fuck all sense, hopefully you know where I am coming from :giggle:

Thanks for the support. Glad it's not a 'me' problem. I even youtubed it to see if I was missing something and of course with gen Rubber B, it seems to go on and off easy.

Just down to part of the rep game, I suspect. :duel:

I had the same problem when replacing a rubber strap on my aquanaut, but got there in the end, just be careful and use some force

Don't attempt to do it as you would with a bracelet, laying flat. Try it with the strap perpendicular to the case and give it some welly. :D

Curiously never had any issues.

Used curved spring bars with rep rubber b on my gen Milgauss and it worked perfectly. It was the 'better' vanilla smelling $50 one.

Got a rep blue cheapie one over m2m and it snapped perfectly on my gen 116610. Curved spings.

Lastly, black cheapie rep + curved spring bars snapped right into my rep Pro Hunter Exp 1.

Maybe curved springs is your answer mate ;) cheers

I would think same M.O. as with the planet ocean rubber straps:

Mount the strap at right angles to the case,

Secure the springbar in lugs

Pinch grip over the springbar as support

& Rotate the strap into position

On one of my rep Rubber B bands I used a drill to make the springbar channel extend a bit towards the case, that helped.

Simple. Send your watch and strap to me and I will wear them for you.

But seriously... I remember having a right struggle with mine too. Came from Nembo. Managed it in the end. Shoving and pushing worked for me.

I may take another go at it, but drill out the spring bar holes at bit. Bloody frustrating!

I'm gonna give it another go, but drill out the openings for the spring bars and see how that works.

It's a total pain in the arse, I gave up trying to use the gem Spring bars and just man handling it to get it to click in just keep struggling with it and it eventually pops in.

Thanks, I will. I saw a youtube with a gen Rubber B and the spring bars slide through super easy. On mine you really have to push them through, which I think is part of the problem. One last try after I drill and if that doesn't work, I'll chuck 'em in the trash and sell the clasps M2M.

Follow up to this.

I drilled out the Rubber B to make the holes for the spring bars wider, and also curved a pair of spring bars and got the damn thing in place. Or so I thought. I pulled on both sides, it's seemed secure. I was sitting there wearing it, quite pleased with myself and the damn thing, without warning just dropped one foot onto the ceramic tile.

So it runs perfectly fine on the crown, crown up and dial down, but stops periodically when you place it dial up (like on your wrist)... so off to the watchmaker it goes. :Praying:

And after reattaching the Rubber B, it is in fact on well and truly secured... just too late.

Cracked Jewel

That's what I'm thinking. Time to replace that 2813, I guess.
