Panerai Pam 193 submersible depth gauge – picture review

This is a picture review of my Panerai luminor 1950 submersible Depth gauge PAM193,

I have owned this watch for over a year now and I still like it very much, I am a big fan of Panerai’s and I currently own 6 of them.

This is one of the lesser known Panerai watches; it started of as a limited edition for the mike horn Pangaea expedition (reference Pam307, blue dial) and later as a normal limited edition (pam193, black dial). This is the normal edition watch.

The watch is huge it has a 47mm 1950 style case and a high case back which makes the watch sit very high on the wrist. And it has 26mm lugs. It also features the handy quick release buttons which I find very useful to easily changes straps.

Originally it came on a rubber strap but I switched it out for a soft leather one for the moment.

The special feature of this watch is the 120 meter depth rating and the special depth gauge which is the extra yellow hand. In the gen this is a battery powered function activated by the button on the 11 o’clock position. However on the rep this doesn’t work and the hand acts as a GMT. I want to fix the hand to the off position so it looks more gen.

Not sure what kind of movement is in here but it runs good with a power reserve of about a day.

I think the case itself is the same size as a normal submersible but because of the case back it wears bigger and for everyday use it is a bit to big, but it makes a nice weekend casual watch.

Now of to the pictures, hope you enjoyed.

Nice pics mate, I have the same watch and I love it too. I have yet to take the time to fix the gmt hand in the off position yet either. Is yours the stainless or the titanium version?

Here's mine on a coramid strap.

That is a very nice watch!

Admin edit: and you had to quote EVERY FUCKING PICTURE to say that?

Pointless quote deleted. Sigh.

Mine is stainless steel so it is heavy as hell but it makes the watch feel nice and solid

Love mine too. Hand is frozen in the off position and it is waterproof. Been in the ocean many times on the rubber strap but I generally keep it on a fat chunk of aged leather.

Please excuse the monumental necro thread bump!!

But, I have “acquired” one of these beasts.

Do you (or anyone else) have a method for freezing the GMT hand to the “off” position on these?
