"Scratch" proof sapphire Chrystal?

Recommended Posts

Glmares88

Hey guys! Been skulking around the forum for quite some time and seems like a great community!

I've got somewhat of a problem. My gf bought me this awesome omega planet ocean seamaster and I'm in love with the watch! After wearing it for some time, I've noticed some scratches and miscoloring on the Chrystal. I was just wondering if there was some type of material to clean with or I could send it to someone to fix the Chrystal. Thanks!

I'd say you are scratching the external AR off.

Only way to fix it would be to remove it all together - using Cape Cod. Carefully.

Forgive my ignorance rawbaws, but what is cape cod? And could I or should I replace the ar?

Depends how much your watch is worth. It won't be cheap and it isn't something you can do yourself.

scratch genie which you can buy on ebay or amazon and use with a dremel is the only thing I found to get a scratch out of my gen Movado sapphire crystal.

Takes a little time with the buffer but works. As for AR coated crystal you may need to go over complete crystal and remove AR coating
