GenTLe 1,510 Posted July 12, 2015 This watch has been a HUGE pain in the ass... It was very expensive (Toro has it at 588$!!!), and: - It arrived with the minute hand floating under the crystal - Toro wanted me to sent it to a Spanish horologist for fix, but I wasn't really trusting this way so I sent it to a certain "certified watchmaker" in Finland who managed to destroy hour and minute wheels and loose a plate jewel pushing the hands (that he tighten definitively too much) too much without the appropriate movement holder. - wheels spare parts for this (gen ETA) movement with the long pinions required by this specific watch where not available, same story for the jeweled plate... - I bought then a "refurbished fully tested" movement from an Egyptian eBay seller (other 160$). It took 2 months to arrive... - when the movement arrived it had the minute wheel pinion fucking broken!!! - broken minute pinion had anyway a good wheel, so I took away the bent wheel from the 1st movement pinion and the good wheel from the broken pinion of the Egyptian one and managed to put together one good minute wheel+pinion. - meantime the bloody stem detached from the crown, because the gen stem is too short for this watch and the damn factory put it in the crown for just half mm plus some glue... Had to buy some stem extender, a new stem and put all together in the correct way (the crown is also a pusher so not easiest thing to do). - I did then a full service of the movement, taking the best parts of both and finally having a good working movement out of the 2. - I then asked Toro to source new hands for it, but he didn't manage to have them from the factory... - so I had to carefully fix the ones too tightened from the Finnish "certified bla bla" in order to have them mountable... Finally, after months, I took courage and today I put back the bloody thing together, helped by some minimal amount of epoxy glue to make the hands to stay where they are supposed to stay (the minute one has only less than 1mm post, so no way it would stay in place if not helped by some glue). Damn this bastard finally works as supposed. My suggestion: stay FAR away from this model if you want to spare many headaches. Mine now is ok, but fresh-from-factory ones will be not different due to the construction of the hands...
