greg_r 81 Posted July 29, 2015 So I was never a big fan of the Nautilus - having never seen one in the flesh, I only had photos to go by and they just didn't float my boat. Robert (RIP) tried to sell me one a few years ago when I bought my Santos, saying that it was a great watch, but I managed to resist. As usual, however, he was right and given that everybody tells me the same thing, I finally succumbed when I recently spotted one in my favourite colour combo of RG + blue dial & strap. Bollocks. I love it. I mean, I LOVE it. Way better looking on the wrist than in photos - the colour variation on the dial is just stunning. I'm going to have to buy another colour combo too - probably on a bracelet next time. And a better strap for this one. And the ladies' version for the missus before she nicks this one. Fuck. Pics: DC, mate, you have a lot to answer for. I am going to have to stop reading your reviews. I'll be wearing bloody boat shoes next...
Del 4,437 Posted July 29, 2015 Very nice mate! You should definitely take a break now from buying watches, until next month. Oh, wait, that's Saturday!
Robeng 0 Posted July 29, 2015 Very nice Greg, nice combo.Had the SS nautilus on SS band and the thing was like a medieval instrument of torture on my Chubaka like wrists Seriously considering a Calatrava but what to do? SS (White gold) or RG? Maybe for a distinguished middle aged gentleman (Old fart) like myself the Rg could be an option. This looks great and is certainly pushing me towards a gold version (but definately on leather! )
Daywatch 4 Posted July 29, 2015 Great review. Fast and simple way to get to the point. Very humoristic - and great pics:) Now I need one too. Thanks

greg_r 81 Posted July 29, 2015 Nice. And more photos this time. Albeit only one more. However,I approve Beautiful watch. Going to change the strap or happy as is? I've had worse, but the strap is rather letting the side down. A replacement will be in order in due course. Thanks guys

Godfathar 1 Posted July 29, 2015 Love the combo.. is it blue dial? or grey? it seems more grey on the pics..

greg_r 81 Posted July 29, 2015 Love the combo.. is it blue dial? or grey? it seems more grey on the pics.. Blue - the lighting in my office is rather over-warm which tends to wash out the colour somewhat. I'll be wearing bloody boat shoes next... You look good
_DC_ 218 Posted July 29, 2015 I'll be wearing bloody boat shoes next... You look good When did you take this? I must not have seen you on account of my paper bag! DC
_DC_ 218 Posted July 29, 2015 PS: One of these next Greg, SW200 on gen strap, you think you like that one just wait till you see the SW and feel the gen strap quality, you'll make a mess all over your new boat shoes (which you WILL own by then)! DC
Godfathar 1 Posted July 29, 2015 ^^^ I'd kill for a gen strap. damn it's so hard to find :(
Lagger 160 Posted July 29, 2015 I had the sw200 model on bracelet and it was the only rep I've had that ripped my arm hairs out, stick with leather, if I ever get another it will be like that

DC Well, thanks for the input, mate, but I don't think that's gonna happen - the version with SW200 is something over $500 if I recall. Add a gen strap to that and it's WAY out of my comfort zone for a rep. At that kinda price I'd really only consider buying some sort of gen (I still have my eye on a Longines Heritage Diver). $300ish for a Miyota-based 5711 is more likely to happen. Godfathar 1 Posted July 30, 2015 if you are going for a bracelet, the Miyota is your best choice indeed, if for the upgraded leather strap version, the Miyota shows big tells, where the SW200 is the better all in all finish. my 2 cents.
