Foxindebox 472 Posted July 29, 2015 Hi guys, I wanted to ask for opinions (or even alternatives) on which Seiko to buy. I have recently bought a SARB033 and absolutely love it, so wanted to get another JDM or Prospex watch. I have two in mind, the first of which is the SBDC003 Blue Sumo Next, is the SARB017 Alpinist And finally, the SRP637 Baby Tuna It would be interesting to hear the opinions of those of you that own one (or more) of these watches. I already have a few seiko divers (Orange Monster, SKX009, 6309 Turtle) and also have a few dressier watches. Id ideally like to go for a GS but the money isn't there at the moment. I can do a max of about £350 is, so all of these are potential purchases. Hope to hear from you all
greg_r 82 Posted July 29, 2015 I have a baby Tuna and they're not that different from the monsters, TBH. Of the ones you list, for me it would have to be the Sumo.
KarmaToBurn 1,419 Posted July 29, 2015 Blumo and Alpinist are both awesome and on my want list too. The only negatives I can think of are that some people find the bracelet on the Sumo too narrow and the 017 doesn't come with a bracelet (but you can buy one aftermarket). I have also been looking at the SARG003. Check out Seiko3s on Global Rakuten for some pretty competitive pricing. I think the Alpinist is currently going for around $305 USD +shipping. Foxindebox 472 Posted July 29, 2015 Thanks guys Karma, do you know if any of the sellers there will mark down for customs? I was stung for an extra £60 when I bought my SARB033 (plus Parcelforce stung me for another £8 for their "service" charge). Cheers That blue sumo.... I know right? I have always risked the buyer declaring a lower amount and worked for me. Of course this has the risk of not fully covering the parcel if it gets lost
Foxindebox 472 Posted July 29, 2015 Yeah, I usually buy through SeiyaJapan but Seiya won't mark down (fair enough, he's a legit seller).
BenjaminButton 149 Posted July 29, 2015 I would say - hands down - the sarb017. I think it stands out as different. Love the green and gold and classic hands. The plain bezel works for me and the only thing I by against it in my book is the compass feature. But then I have that issues with diving bezels and chronographs. The purist in me only wants features I need and use. And that is the only reason I haven't bought this watch myself already. But I think I may be at breaking point!!!! I haven't ordered from them yet but I know that many have ordered from them on WUS and have been happy. I have ordered from Chino and Higuchi and they both declared full value on the parcel. WatchDog21 3,345 Posted July 29, 2015 When I bought my Prospex the decision was between a Sumo and the prospex so Blue Sumo would be my choice on this one.

Foxindebox 472 Posted July 29, 2015 Thanks very much Gaz So these guys are happy to mark down then? I know it might be a silly question, but do I need to email them first or will they do it anyway?
Gazzla 23 Posted July 29, 2015 Thanks very much Gaz So these guys are happy to mark down then? I know it might be a silly question, but do I need to email them first or will they do it anyway? If you go with standard delivery, which is free, then no problem. I've had a ton of Seikos from these guys and never had a charge. The usually mark the CN22 with 'Sports Timer $15' or similar. Delivery takes about a week. FedEx might be different, I've had a couple of letters from them.
