Mattcrx 8 Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) I've finally finished....ish I know the Sub-C Smurf isn't to everyone taste but here we go. About 2 years ago I purchased a cheapie smurf that at the time I thought was the mutts nuts, bought a gen box for it and thought I was a world beater then I joined this forum.... And it all began! The original watch was an horrendous cheapie and dont even think it had a 2813 movement in it but if definitely had a plastic movement ring...it was that bad!! then I joined the forum and started reading and looking into more detail how bad my watch actually was and slowly started to upgrade it. Since then it's kind of the like the only fools and horse joke by trigger "That's what I've done. Maintained it for 20 years. This old brooms had 17 new heads and 14 new handles in its time" Iv been through about 4 movements, 4 different cases, 4 ceramic, 2 case backs, 3 crystals, 6 sets of hands, a relume by Kenny, 4 dials, 3 DWOs, 5/6 pearls, God knows how many bracelets and claps and I prob forgot half the other stuff! Going through all makers like BP and noob and all the cheapie shite I thought was good at the time. So my spec sits as this; •Noob Case •Noob V5 bezel •Noob V5 case back •Noob V5 bracelet •Noob V5 clasp (Shaped to gen spec) •Noob Hands •BP pearl (Filed down to gen spec) •BP dial •BP indexes relumed by Kenny •Gen crystal •Gen spring pins •Gen Swiss ETA 2836-2 •TC V6 DWO •Fully water proof Future possibilities; •Gen crown and tube •Y3135 with gen hands So do you think it looks gen?? So further ado here's the original watch I think....(that long ago) and then the finished article, hope you all like it! Please let me know your thoughts and sorry for bad pics and yes the watch does need a clean and polish.... thanks for looking! It's actually the pictures that make the SEL look a lot worse, in real like they are very tight.

WatchDog21 3,345 Posted August 4, 2015 You have done a fantastic job here. I wish I had the patience and hands to do this sort of thing myself. Looks great!
Mattcrx 8 Posted August 4, 2015 Thanks guys! I really appreciate it!! The best thing I love about the watch is the clasp is when I re shaped it and smoothed the clasp!!! all rep manufacturers over look this so when you look at a rep clasp against the gen the rep stands out a mile because of the sharp edges! Here's some pics if you don't get what I mean. Noob V5 sharp edges; Mine re-shaped (Noob V5 clasp); Gen;

Mattcrx 8 Posted August 4, 2015 Beautiful work.. What did you use? Needle files for shaping, softened and smoothed with 1200 wet & dry then used my wife's nail buffer thing to buff up each and soften the edge again.

2hot2trot 4 Posted August 4, 2015 Congratulations on some outstanding work. I particulalry love the work you have done on the clasp. A great idea that I will try myself. My only suggestion to finish this beauty off now you have done all this work is to go for a Gen Crown and tube.

Barth 0 Posted August 4, 2015 Brilliant work. It looks gen, and I bet it feels great too. I'm a big fan of the Smurf myself, I should get one someday. Have a hard time justifying it because I own many rolexes including a sub, but it looks different. Best of health to wear it
