SirDomino 0 Posted January 10, 2011 I have seen a lot of very nice rep watches available, but they all seem to use the more expensive, less reliable A7750 movement. I am wondering if it is possible to fit a Quartz or A21J movement in an A7750 version of the watch, or if there are engineering limitations/fit issues? Would like the look of the higher end reps that are much closer to gen, but with a reliable movement.
greg_r 81 Posted January 10, 2011 Some watches are available with the high-end case sets but quartz movements. Retro-fitting is likely to be a problem, however, due to different subdial spacing. The A7750 is relatively trouble free so long as you stick to secs@9 (which is its default configuration). The ones you need to be wary of are those with secs@6 or secs@12, which use a modified version of the movement - that's where the real issues occur). Also keep a look out for reps with the Sea-Gull ST19 (aka "Lemania" or "copy venus" movement) as they're extremely robust and reliable.
