Seiko SUN025P1 "Explorer II White"

Recommended Posts

elmerlo

Hi guys,

A while ago I developed a serious Explorer II addiction and bought the Noob version (after the 21j...), until a friend of mine wanted it so badly I had to sell it, with the thought: "well, I will buy it again sometimes".

Not anymore! Yesterday I saw that Seiko blatantly copied it, putting him on the 5M85 Kinetic movement it served me so well on the SUN019P1 (another one gone to a friend).

So, before Rolex starts a lawsuit against Seiko for cloning the 216570, I grabbed one in Singapore, will keep you updated when it reaches me.

For the moment, a side by side comparison of Japan vs. Switzerland:

Very nice. Looking forward to the review. Assuming this is a new model?

Yes, AFAIK it's a 2015 model. A new version of the SUN015P1 which has been around at least a couple of years.

It's a quartz movement?

Yes. The quartz movement has a rotor which provides electrical energy to "charge" it with movement. http://www.seiko.co.uk/discover-seiko/technology/kinetic

May I ask what you paid for it in Singapore? Amazon has it for £286 in UK.

Wow nice! Luckily it's a 44mm case which won't work for me...

On MyWatchesHub I paid for it £200, FedEx shipping included. There will be 15£ for customs.

Yesterday I had the chance to see it first hand: it has the same dimensions (lug to lug) of the Citizen Super Pilot (I had on my wrist).

I have a skinny wrist too, and these are right on the limit. With the IWC Big Pilot I often wonder that I look ridiculous :)

I looked at that site. They say they don't ship Seiko Kinetic to the EEA. UK is part of EEA, so how did you get away with it.?

Just watched a review of a different colored model and am super impressed with this. The hour hand is quickset adjustable, love that feature. Very nice!

Huh? Didn't see that. But anyway I already bought from them (I'm from Italy).

Also exchanged emails and they didn't mention anything about EEA.
