UNSATISFACTORY Gen Omega Service

I can do better than leaving dust so obvious on the dial.

Yes that dust mistake was one I have made early in my tinkering career. I'm now fanatical about cleaning before reassembly. I also often have apart a newly acquired rep to remove crap from the dial or crystal.

Good luck with having it cleaned.

Ok I take it all back. Not only is there excessive dust, the subdial itself is marred. Can you tell? Withholding anger until they reply.

Did the red case come as a gift with the service or previously you sent it along with the watch?

Sorry about all this. What a pain! You mentioned that the seller was going to split the cost of service with you. Was it not functioning properly when you originally received it? I'm curious because I bought one of these from that seller yesterday.

So they have the fucking gall to say it's not dust (can't blow it off) AND it was there before and the scratched up crystal probably hid it.

They "offer" to help polish out the new scratches on the acrylic.

I tell them they can BLOW ME and send them very high resolution pictures complete with EXIF data of the clean dial.

Little do they know I take a billion and a half pics of my watches, many close up and direct from my iPhone so no Photoshop funny business.

Your move Omega Toronto Service...

After further review, we have decided to replace the dial free of charge

It will have to be ordered therefore it may be two or three weeks before I can return your watch to you

Yep, definitely a good result so far but I don't have the watch yet. We'll see what happens in 2-3 weeks...

The service representative is very helpful -- it was just the rhetoric of the technical person that got to me. I stayed extremely calm during the call as I knew full well I have an arsenal of photographs to back up the fact I'm not crazy.

Sad that is their default stance - Deny, blame it on the customer. Oh, I'm sorry, you have pics? Of course we'll fix it. Wankers! Hope it all works out LG.

Yes good luck. Happened to me like this. My Gen vintage Heuer (first watch I ever bought), sent into largest AD dealer in my area to have movement replaced (before I knew this forum existed) and came back with scratched dial from hands, don't you think? After bitching for weeks, they gave most of my money back, but now I have ruined dial.

Never heard anything positive about Omega service, especially the one in NJ. Glad you got it settled. Seems like if the Japanese are going to corner the market on used Speedies, they should open their own fixits too!

Gee, but I thought that the big name watch companies were cutting off all parts and materials to anybody but their factory service centers because their quality was so high compared to the hacks out in the rest of the watch repair world....../sarcasm off.
