The bottom line is good people were fucked out of money on parts supposed to be genuine that were in fact rep parts. This is no different than what Sylar did and we didn't laugh at the guys who got scammed. Granted this isn't my house but it's how I see things. I've also seen VDB watches up close, specifically the Little Egi that Joe had and it was gorgeous. Is it worth 4K... I wouldn't pay that much because I don't have that kind of scratch but it is a BEAUTIFUL watch. Of course I didn't take it apart but it seemed solid and well constructed. If I had the 45 bucks to spare I'd have entered that raffle and been damn proud to wear it anywhere- one of my fave reps ever made anywhere. I'd also like to add that Joe, Paul and the rest of the guys on WC are decent dudes. Joe in particular I consider a friend. I didn't so I built my own (then again my standards are a LOT lower ) Back in the day VDB and EE were the only ones doing high end, close to gen replications of 1930-1960 Panerais. Sole source suppliers can charge whatever they want and there were those with the money to pay. What pisses me off is rep parts sold as gen. A sticky movement or other issues.... that's an issue for the buyer & manufacturer to sort out. Passing rep off as gen is flat out scamming and considering what I just went through with a very similar situation it pisses me off even more to see it happening again. No one I don't think condons what VBD has done cheating people and telling lies about Gen parts etc. But by the same token the people who were aware of it kept it to themselves so they could offset their exposure also so they are in part implicated in this as well. As for Joe being a good person he certainly does a good job of hiding the fact from the general membership all I have ever seen is a greedy show off but thats only from his postings so in the real world he maybe a gent who knows. So because you have seen this side of him you need to realise the vast majority have not and in consiquence can feel no sorrow in his current situation and think the right group have been fucked. Not only have they brought this on themselves but have drawn others into with all the bull shit hype they have surrounded themselves with about these fake Panerai vintage peices.
