nadn1 0 Posted November 4, 2015 hi guys, long time no see :P I am looking to pick a dress watch for my brothers wedding. So far i have rounded my choice to two watches both within 300USD mark 1. Bulova 97A109 http://www.amazon.com/Bulova-Mens-97A109-Mechanical-Watch/dp/B00CQ7I3WW/ref=sr_1_1?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1446631283&sr=1-1&nodeID=7141123011&keywords=bulova+97A109 2. Bulova 97B122 http://www.amazon.com/Bulova-97B122-Precisionist-Chronograph-Watch/dp/B00CQ7I1V0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446633118&sr=8-1&keywords=bulova+97B122 which one should you guys think i should buy? at this moment i am leaning towards the 1st one. Love it to pieces specially the open heart dial and the watch is classy is hell. But the 2nd watch has Bulovas ultra high frequency quartz and that itself is impressive and watch is good looking as well. You can read more on UHF here http://www.bulova.com/en-GB/cat/uhf/ Anyway looking forward to what you guys have to say
RUSH2112 11 Posted November 4, 2015 I wouldn't consider the second for a dress watch, too busy.

Lachsersatz 0 Posted November 4, 2015 Hi, My personal opinion: If a Bulova, always one with the ultra high frequency quarz. This was always the competitive edge of Bulova (super smooth sweep). A 21j Automatic Bulova is nothing special and will sweep-wise most probably be no match for the quarz. However, I agree that the 2nd one is too busy. I would go with the "classic" Accutron II, e.g. this one: http://www.amazon.com/Bulova-Accutron-Surveyor-Stainless-Steel/dp/B00I6BKFB4/ref=sr_1_20?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1446633998&sr=1-20&nodeID=7141123011&keywords=bulova+accutron

Gazzla 23 Posted November 4, 2015 Personally, whilst they are both nice, for that sort of dough you could have a classical Seiko SARB with a high beat auto movement:
RUSH2112 11 Posted November 4, 2015 Here's my Accutron I picked up right here recently. Terrible pic coming
NFleischer 4,355 Posted November 10, 2015 I prefer the second- don't like open balance wheel personally. For dress I would stay simple.

Takken 0 Posted November 13, 2015 Orient have some nice clean dress watches. Good price and very nice quality watches.
JerAnt 0 Posted November 13, 2015 Of the two you asked for comment on, I prefer the look of the 2nd. As has been mentioned though, I'm not sure I'd call either a pure dress watch. You're likely not looking for even more choices - but here they are anyway! If you're comfortable with Amazon owned Woot! terms and conditions, they have a couple of Bulova BVA automatics on sale until the 16th. Not the absolute best price I've ever seen for these particular models, but not too far off. Leather strap automatic BUL-96A135-DD - $275 http://sellout.woot....=so_cnt_wp_11_4 Stainless bracelet automatic BUL-96A119 http://sellout.woot....=so_cnt_wp_11_3 - $
limehands 0 Posted January 11, 2016 Go with the first or the Seiko option! This is my tuxedo watch (yes I do wear penguin suits occasionally).
