What's the point?

Been wondering for a while, why the fuck would you bother putting a sapphire crystal in a watch if you are going to coat itON THE FUCKING OUTSIDE with some fancy AR material....

The whole point of a sapphire crystal is that it doesn't scratch and bloody brilliant it is! So then why go ahead and fuck that up by covering it in something really scratchable, just fucking bewildering, may as well use cling film as the crystal...

Anyhow rant over just needed to get that out of my system

Rolex does't use AR on the outside. Just high quality sapphire.

It's PBR's fault.

So they can charge to replace it occasionally. Of course Plexi could also be periodically changed but a) won't be anti glare and 2) won cost an arm and a leg.

This way, you get the best of both worlds - it won't scratch, & IT WILL!!! :) 2 for 1, an extra added bonus!

Always wondering about this question as well.

The pictures of brand newly placed Prof crystals are stunning - but what happens a bit later and how does it look?

Only ever had double ar once, it went patchy fast and had to get it removed as it looked terrible
