Zenith Pilot (bronze)

Not really a full review as this watch has been covered by others, but this just in from our good friends at Marvellous Replica.

Quality of finish is as good as I've seen on a rep. It feels gen-like and really looks the part. Will be interesting to see how the patina develops. My only slight gripe is the strap, which is fairly decent and looks very similar to the gen - but I'm not sure it really suits the watch. I'm thinking that something darker might look better.

If you're tempted by this one, don't hesitate. It's a great watch.

Roses are red

Violets are blue

This is close enough to a real write up

That I will let it stay in Review.

same to you! :D

What's not to like? Great presence and likely, a great lume.

I can see where a darker brown could complement it better once it gains patina. Something about the concept of bronze screams for browns.

Hey Greg, do you have, by any chance, the lug and buckle width?

Thanks.

Advertised as a 23\22 strap. Have not measured mine yet.

Greg are you sure you got the correct darker strap with yours? My QC pics initially showed the tan strap and I had to remind Tim to change it for the correct darker strap.

I have seen several other forum pix of the wrong strap on this bronzo.

I have both the bronze and the blue dial version. Both are firm favorites. The band on the blue dial looks great but doesn't feel great. It's something I will likely upgrade in the future. I have found the band on the bronze to be really nice compared to other rep bands.

Here are some pictures of the two.

What movement it has? Miyota 9015?

Bronze is Miyota 9015 and the blue dial version is A2824.

Which one is more reliable?

How are these holding up?  Would love to see some pics of how the patina has developed over time.

My understanding is that the Miyota 9015 movements are typically not as reliable and often noisier than an A2824.  Did these "bronze" ones all use the same movement?

What's the best way to specify this particular version to a TD?  Were these V6 Factory?

Has anyone seen any newer improved version since these?

Thanks!

They are totally comparable. For precision and other things (i.e. the 2824 reversing wheels sometimes get stuck and need a clean) I prefer Miyota. The "noise" is just a matter of putting a micro amount of oil in the counterweight ball bearing.
