crimsonnq 0 Posted December 15, 2015 Hi everyone, I'm fairly new here and just bought my first rep. I'm planning to silence the rotor in my watch's miyota 9015 movement and found a how to using silicone grease that seems to have worked for a few people. Could you advise where I might be able to get a set of watch tools necessary to do this? I did a search and found that the RWG represented the best value for money however when I went to order the link said that they were unable to fulfill orders at this time and hence could not take any requests for their tools. Is there an alternative place you can recommend? I was tempted to just do a search on ebay but thought to ask here first. thank you, C

GenTLe 1,509 Posted December 16, 2015 I normally go for a mix of eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/171951694927 for example), CousinsUK and others. First I select the tool then I search for the good price.

Dendo 93 Posted December 20, 2015 I buy them all locally in the watch district in Philadelphia - amazing selection of stuff and you can check the quality before you buy - and the range of stuff and prices are very competitive. All within walking distance. And the best benefit is that there is no postage nor waiting time for stuff to arrive, you can just pick up the lump hammer and lug it home the same day. greg_r 81 Posted December 20, 2015 A hammer, a blowtorch and duct tape. Between those three you can fix anything.

If you don't know what tools someone might need for working on watches you'd be better not to answer. Caseback opening tools or sticky ball, screwdrivers of all necessary sizes, screwdriver sharpening stones, tweezers, hand removal tools, dial protectors, finger cots, hand setting tools, putty, isopropyl alcohol wipes, blower. These are the ones I use just for a dial or movement swap and I'm no watchmaker.
