fatarms 7,777 Posted April 13, 2017 16750 today What's this one? What kind of specs? It's a gen 16750 from 1983 based on serial number, owned by my wife's grandfather. He gave it to her to sell when she went to college to buy books. She never sold it and hung on to it. She gave it to me when we were engaged and I wore it for my wedding. During the late 80's into the 90's, when these watches were sent to Rolex to be serviced, they would replace the dial with the satin version. Luckily, he never sent it to Rolex for servicing, so it still has the matte finish dial with Tritium lume, the glow is long gone though. From what I've been told, and have read, the matte-tritium dials are rare and are worth more than those with the dials that'd been replaced. The dial is also ever so slightly tropicalized and the red has turned to "ghost" on the insert thanks to constant exposure in the Texas sun on my grandfather-in-law's wrist. I had the movement serviced by 10:10 when he was a trusted watchsmith here, he also replaced the crystal since the original had really taken a beating over the years. He also rebrushed the bracelet and clasp, as they were also beat up pretty good. Still a small dent in the clasp along with some deeper grooves, and I've added my own desk dives as well just adding to the character.
