until recently I would have sworn the sub was the quintessential Rolex to have, then I felt the Daytona was... now I can only attest that the *daydate is. 

Or maybe I’m just getting old

It’s a 3.9M serial (~1973) 1680. It came with a service dial but it *might* have been a red letter sub so I’m keeping my eyes open for a (rare) Mk. V red dial. 

In the mean time, it wears a Mk. I white dial.
