Akira 0 Posted February 1, 2011 Does anyone know how the margin of AD's is? I can't believe they have 100% markups, but I really don't know.
Brightlight 0 Posted February 1, 2011 Why can't you believe it? Have you any idea of stocking costs, costs of premises, staff, advertising, security, aftersales, taxes, etc, etc? IMO you're bloody lucky if it's only 100% markup.
andygt 0 Posted February 1, 2011 Old prices but shows the markups: http://www.watchbasics.com/rolex_prices.htm Basically AD's buy from Rolex at 60% of the list price.

Do you think AD employees can buy watches at 60% off as well? If so, I'm done with this design shit!

The sister of a good friend of mine works for Vente-privee.com and got her Rolex for wholesale price. I just got told yesterday and that's why I was asking.... Don't know which model she has yet. offshore 0 Posted February 1, 2011 There ya go, ...60% off =150% on, and thats reasonably close to "normal" margins. Also it depends on whether the dealer is buying, or stocking on consignment, and any "specials" being offered. I have seen brand watches with 90% off RRP as a special to clear stocks...including some medium to high end swiss product. O/S
andygt 0 Posted February 1, 2011 60% of the list price not off but still a good discount if you can swing it, Akira. Just remember your buddies at rwg if you do

Silverspeed 10 Posted February 1, 2011 I think Rolex employees can/may buy one piece a year for own usuage or for direct family and I doubt it is with 60% discount....certainly not on the SS models
d1isthe1 0 Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) In India Ethos gives a straight 20-25% off depending upon the customer, lately i was at another store and the Carl F Bucherer travel tec GMT it was 35% off and since i'm a good customer they offered me a 45% discount.... it was surely temping and was a steal at that price (imo). They usually do have huge margins. Edited February 1, 2011 by d1isthe1
