krag90 0 Posted March 4, 2016 Was thinking about putting a IWC 80111 movement in a Noob laureus (vintage) ingeneur. Am I crazy for thinking abot this? Ive been looking into stem heights between the Asian 2824-2 clone and the gen 80111 but have found nothing. Any thoughts? Franken, just for the feeling, not looks. krag90 0 Posted March 6, 2016 The gen dial is almost impossible to get hold of, but the noob version is enough for me. The hands, might be very hard to get hold of, and may be very needed because the ones attached to the Asian ETA in the rep might most probably not fit. An alternative is to find another set of hands that fit the caliber 80111 and "hacksaw" out "the holes", then attach "the holes" to the bottom of the noob-hands. The movement holder seem to be able to handle 30 mm if I grind it out a bit. Stem height, might not be a problem, seems to be alright on the outside of the case, but seems very hard to get hold of that data.. Estimated cost: 700€. Worth it? Why the hell not.. JSJ 0 Posted March 6, 2016 It's only worth it for the fun you will have doing it. Good luck if you go for it. Keep us posted.
