Watch Book

I don't see a "Watch Repairs for Dummies" or "How to Keep Your Watch Alive for the Complete Idiot" books on Amazon. I also don't see a basic book (or any book) in the RWG Shop. If there is a list of recommended reading here, I have been unable to find it, which is not to say there isn't one.

 

I know I can go to the watch repair area in the VIP Supporter Only Section and find what I need in the manuals that are there, but even so... I want a book, not a print out. I know that manual in the VIP Section is a great, but please don't direct me there, or imagine I overlooked it. I love the Illustrated Dictionary of Horology and the Watch Repair Vol.1 and Vol.2 in the VIP Only Section, but I want a book.

 

Just a note...the term "rehaut" is not in the Glossary there.

 

I would like to get a very basic book on watch repairs, maintenance and simple mechanical watch movements. I enjoy watching the videos, but if a winter storm, or CME takes out my power I would like a hard copy in my reference library.

 

Although all recommendations are appreciated, I would most like something with simple schematics/illustrations and descriptions which are as straight forward and uncomplicated as possible. I am looking for the basics here. I am not looking for the history of watches and lots of reading, but more a basic manual. If you have any doubts about what I am looking for... I want a watch book with twice the sex and half the foreplay.

 

Please advise me. TIA

I looked at this book the other night when I bought the tool kit,

but the look inside feature didn't show much. I will put this on my wish list.

It's a timeless and very good resource. One of the first books I picked up on watch movements, repair etc.. I learned a lot from it.

I do renovation work, but if I had to do plumbing...

This book is from 1946, reprinted, is there any info on ETA, Valjoux 7750?

I plan to order this book... Even if it doesn't have the 7750 info in it.

I need to start somewhere.

 

I only want wind ups and automatics - no 7750 movements, so this book

will probably be perfect for me, even if it doesn't contain it.

 

After reading RolexAddict on the 7750,

I know it is not the watch movement for me.

 

Since I am bumping this now Luth, perhaps someone will make a suggestion

for a good book on the 7750 for your.
