racer1 0 Posted February 10, 2011 The watch is Gold Plated. I did ask.
AllergyDoc 40 Posted February 11, 2011 $1K to me but the exact same watch goes for about $400 from Polo Lu. It's a "Tawain Best". Def. not ~$200, you're right about that. Wrapped gold watches are upper $300's and higher. I like the watch a lot! Have to find a way to get the tarnish off the gold crown. Use a small plastic holder place warm water and dish washing soap leave it to soak in for 20 mins and then lightly shake it the tarnish should fall off That is if your watch is water proof Who is polo Lu? A dealer on RWGjr. The watch is pretty water resistant. It's been dunked in mild cleaning solution before. Not by me, though.
SirDomino 0 Posted March 3, 2011 So is the consensus pretty much that there is nothing that can be done to protect "Gold Plated" watches? I wonder how much getting things re-plated would typically cost... But the wear would just give it a 'vintage' look i suppose...

MikeyMouseWatch 0 Posted March 3, 2011 Well, if you're going to get something plated, make sure it's Ion-plated.
NFleischer 4,355 Posted March 4, 2011 I once tested the gold on the TWBest TT like doc has- it came out about 12kt. using the chemical rub-off test on stone.
