Aquanaut, Aquanaut, Aquanaut...

Anyone here own a rep Patek Philippe Aquanaut?

Do you like it? Love it? From which TD did you buy it? Is it everything you ever dreamed it would be?

I've been enjoying my Miyota Nautilus and am thinking of adding an Aquanaut to the mix.

So show me your Aquanaut love and convince me to buy one as my next rep~

Yes, yes, M2M and yes! :P

The Aquanaut is a superb watch, very comfortable, and far more interesting and dynamic than people think. People say it's a boring version of the Nautilus, but those people don't know what they are talking about. It's nothing like the Nautilus..... ok the bezel is a lot like the Nautilus but trust me, that's where the similarity ends!!

It's thicker, more casual, sportier, wears a little larger and just has a totally different personality to the Nautilus.

Get one, you'll love it!

Mine says hello...

Say hello to my little friend. Overall Very subtle, but the dial has a strong personality. I say go for it.

Cool. I'm sold.

So at Trusty Time, you get the "PP0073B - Aquanaut Jumbo V2 Auto SS/RU Black Swiss SW200" for USD $538.

Then over at Toro Bravo's you get the "Aquanaut Jumbo V2 Auto SS/RU Black SW200 from V6F" for USD $498.

They look to be the same model, probably from the same factory. Photos seem to show the same movement, case, et cetera.

Why the $40 discrepancy? Or should I just not be so bitchy about it? ^^

Your thoughts?

Testomatic

I got mine from Tim for 250 with a miyota

The only issue i have with it is the lume color is greenish vs the off white color of gen

But hey 200$ saved :-)

DC will confirm but i remember him posting something about the sw200 version being the most wanted one

DC, your picture shows the aquanaut have extremely clear glass. Did you have double AR done on these?

Yearh....the most prevalent distinguisher between the two being that the Nautilus is a thing of utmostbeauty....where-as the Aquanaut looks like the ugly after-birth. Which it is...;)

I've got the SW200 version and its pretty impressive. Just great finish and looks the part. I couldn't be happier with it.

I've bought, owned and modded a bunch of both (like 3 Aquanaut and 6 Nautilus I think), in the end I discovered my dream watch would be

a mix of both, i.e an Aquanaut with a Nautilus dial and hands, so I sold all of them.

PS: I even tried to build that mix, but turns out that the Nautilus dial is smaller than the Aquanaut, so would not fit very nicely!

I'm generally not a fan because of the Nautilus similarity... but these pix.... dayum... I like it! :)

Gotta say they do look good, once I'm done buying up dress and chrono Pateks I might have to get one to try it out against my beloved Miyota! If it's not too thick then it could be a winner (hard to tell from pics but they carry the extra thickness in the caseback so visually doesn't affect it too much)!

Main thing I'd like to see sorted is the bracelet, it's too inflexible at the lugs, the gen bracelet hangs down from the lugs and it's quite loose but the rep projects outward and can't hang loose! Would be nice to see that fixed, the watch would wear far nicer on the wrist!!

So the right answer is, both look good?

I have the SW200 from toro and love it. I am however seriously thinking about picking up the miyota BP version.

Yes very comfortable but here is the hypothetical question, if you were to purchase a gen Patek, would it be Nautilus or Aquanaut?

And for even playing field let's say this is first watch of the collection?

Nautilus for sure, it's not that the Aquanaut is necessarily inferior, it's just that the Nautilus is... well it's the Nautilus, it's legendary!

Nautilus for sure as well, the gen is just pure marvel...

And the rep Aquanaut is too good to justify gen money ;)
