scope 3 Posted February 14, 2011 I purchased a very old tackle box to restore and use for a watch box. It's made from tiger oak and has great details. Total cost $20.00 and a little time. Let me know what you think.
mulder 0 Posted February 14, 2011 I think its perfect and a lot cheaper than the $150 I spent. Looks great. Congrats

Looks like it was made to hold them, and classy as hell too!! - Plus you've always got that satisfaction that it cost bugger-all and you modded it yourself. Nice little collection you've got there too. loving the vintage PAM on croc in the middle!!! Enjoy it buddy you should be proud!
mulder 0 Posted February 14, 2011 I reckon this would make a pearler of a watch box http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8-Drawer-Ma...omotiveQ5fTools For $20 and all that character yours is still perfect.
scope 3 Posted February 14, 2011 I looked at a lot of tool boxes but did not find one at the right price. You can purchase that one at harbor freight for $79.
Aren 27 Posted February 14, 2011 WOW Scope...really impressive. It is just beautiful. I really like the wood. Did you refinish it? It definitely looks like it was made for your watches, and a very nice collection BTW. I particularly like the hardware. Did you put new hardware on it? If not...what a great purchase. Clever, creative and lovely. It really does look like it was made for your watches! I love it!
scope 3 Posted February 14, 2011 I refinished the inside of the box and lightly refinished the outside to save all the weathered details. I tried to save all hardware but had to replace the hinges and handle. Thanks all for your kind comments.
Ska 11 Posted February 14, 2011 Those hinges are the nuts! They look perfect.
Aren 27 Posted February 14, 2011 Yeh, the hardware really sets it off. Nice choice. Looks rich and it has that pulled together look, everything looks great and working in harmony in appearance. I really love the mature wood. It looks antique without being too primitive. I like primitive too, but this box looks like a fine antique. The refinish looks great. I usually do lots of wood flooring but don't get fun and artsy projects like yours. Well done...and Well done!
mulder 0 Posted February 14, 2011 Its a great box. You should be proud. I got a postal quote on the ebay auction I mentioned and its $167 to Australia for shipping. Guess its staying in the USA. David
