MikeMcNair 0 Posted February 17, 2011 Still rock'n the Daytona... gotta get as much use out of it as possible before it reverts back to "the most beautiful paper weight in the world" why is it dying?
greg_r 83 Posted February 17, 2011 Still rock'n the Daytona... gotta get as much use out of it as possible before it reverts back to "the most beautiful paper weight in the world" why is it dying? A7750 with the secs@6 modification. They're not exactly reliable - most die eventually. There is a modification that can be done which will sort it out again for a while, but they need regular attention
GC 4,517 Posted February 17, 2011 Still rock'n the Daytona... gotta get as much use out of it as possible before it reverts back to "the most beautiful paper weight in the world" why is it dying? it's a modded 7750 with the sec moved to the 6 o'clock subdial... they are notoriously unreliable. This particular watch ran for 2 months, stopped for 6 months and started running again just yesterday. It will die again or it will keep running... cest' la vive
MikeMcNair 0 Posted February 17, 2011 thanks greg, but i am still unclear as to why they have a prob. and does EVERY one have this issue?
MikeMcNair 0 Posted February 17, 2011 so the 7750 is supposed to have seconds at 9 i assume? and if at 9, they are more reliable?
GC 4,517 Posted February 17, 2011 thanks greg, but i am still unclear as to why they have a prob. and does EVERY one have this issue? the technical reason for it stopping is the added plate and gears that are used to move the subdial configuration. With the addition of the plate and gears it adds to friction as well as a heavier dependence on the balance/main spring. There are mods that lessen the friction but even they are not perfect nor do they offer a real solution to the cause. At best they cure the symptoms. On a side note: i have been running the chrono function which seems to help the constant stopping of the movt compared to when i did not run the chrono.
