Akira 0 Posted February 15, 2011 Hello, first of all BIG Thanks to Andei3000 Great guy gave me the hints & tips and gifted the lumepowder as well:) Thanks to Skathewatch for his great "Panerai 183 Lume and Cannon Pinion Tutorial" The first rep I bought after joining this awesome community was an AP ROO Survivor Limited Edition The rep-lume did lack in both brightness and duration, so I deceided to relume it. I want to mod a 5513 soon, so I thought this is a good practice. I've never relumed anything before, I have the lumepowder for a couple of days and all my knowledge comes from this website and the conversation with the members :P All tools where bought from the RWGshop and from Eiderdaus... I bought more tools which would have been great use for this job, but I couldn't wait any longer for them to arrive.... So 'nough with the bla bla... 1.Get rid of the strap...it's just unhandy for the work. 2. Open the caseback...in this case remove the casebackscrews. 3. Remove the battery, but be careful and don't use any magnetic tweezer! 4. Shot of the Movement to see where to "push" for releasing the crown stem. What I didn't know, most Miyota Quartz movements only allow to remove the stream while it's in the running position. So it took me quite some time to figure it out and more time to release the stem 5. Remove the movement 6. Remove the hands....with a handremover of course 7. Separate the dial from the movement 8. Now remove the hour indicators from the dial. Little push from the back of the dial and than take them slowly with a tweezer 9. Remove the old lume from the hands and indicators 10. Take the right bag of white powder Mix it with some varnish as a binder...I used clear acrylic varnish for $5. It takes about 15mins to dry and gives you enough time. 11. You have to test the right mixture with powder and binder. Best thing to do is to make some probational dots on a piece of paper. 12. Now start to relume the indicators and hands. Make sure not to use too much lume on both. Make sure to clean them after the lume has dried as well, so you won't have the lume on sites you don't want to. I used ducktape to place the indicators...not your best choice. I was out of toothpicks as well, didn't know it though. 13. Attach back the subdial hands on the dial 14. Position the hour markers on the dial. 15. Attach the minute, hour and second hand 16. Reassemble the watch 17. Make a lume shot of the relumed watch Before and after I hope this little tutorial is any helpfull for you guys... I can assure you they are not I polished them several times, I guess they are slightly scratched.
