If you had to choose a vintage Rolex, what one would you pick?

Recommended Posts

Skrimps

So I really wanted to buy a gen Rolex Sub 5512 from 1978 but the wife shot that one down real quick. This made me start looking around at vintage watches and trying to find the best place to get one at. Have seen some over at Perfect Clones that look good and have also seen what RolexAddict can do.

Just wanted to know what some of you guys think are great vintage ones as well as a thread to share some pictures.

There are plenty of very talented individuals on here that will take your money and convert it into a nice little vintage project for you. If I had to choose, my blueberry gets the most wrist time.

There is already a long, long thread in the vintage section. But nothing beats this to me.

Actually, Machs RA 6263 is on M2M now - go grab that. Instant vintage awesomeness with no wait.

Yeah, saw his over on the M2M but have just never been a fan of the Daytona for some reason. Been eyeing some vintage Explorer type as well. Love, LOVE LOVE your Space Dweller.

man, you answered your own question...you don't like Daytonas, and almost bought a 5512.

Buy a cartel 5512 and do a lil modding, or send it to RA etc = done

Cartel 5512 or 5513 and send it over to RA; vintage 1680 JKF edition (the one that Intime has) or wait for something to come up on m2m (it might be gone once You want to grab it).

Once vintage, always vintage so it doesn´t really matter where You start:) Plus, personally I´m happy with all of them from the cheapest to the most expensive.

Mixed up parts

I got these 2 to choose from....first a slightly modded GMT Vintage that RA changed the crystal to a gen flat one (I hated the doomed one) and also installed a gen bezel insert

And then I have a vintage Seadweller bought in a M2M deal some year ago and with the rubberstrap on it´s a beauty IMO

For me it has got to be the 1680 Red. Such a classic. This is my Cartel V2 with WSO aged insert, Cartel Pearl, and Bulang and Sons strap.

That's Mitchelle (Silix TD) 6538 Big Crown. 21j

But 3-6-9 dial is more closer to 6200 line, altough 6200 line Big Crowns are pretty rare.
