Budget Vintage Omega SM300 (Military Dial)

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Ive just finished building this SM300 using various budget parts. I had an A2836-2 from a previous upgraded Sub (upgraded to swiss) and didn't know what to do with it until I saw a vintage Seamaster 300 online.

So I sourced a case from Michelle, a dial from Rafflestime and a set of hands from Helenarou and here is the result.

I'm still undecided on whether to "Vintagize" or leave as NOS...

There is one thing that have to do at some point which is to paint the seconds hand white. But for the moment, I'm just going to enjoy it

Cheers :)

Great work there love it!

Definitely leave it NOS and let it pick up age whilst you wear it

I've done several vintage watches lately and I believe I'm over the scratch them up thing. I think I'll go with just the basic stuff from now on. Do the lugs, change the movement to swiss low beat ( I bought a dozen so I have to do that), nicer crystals, maybe nicer dials. I might lightly bleach an insert but maybe not. I really like this one you've done Foxy. I'm going to do one of these.

Question - wasn't the crown Rolex on this case? You switch it over? Looks like it from the pic.

No, it came with an Omega crown. In fact I was very impressed with the quality for the price..

Here are a couple of pics of just the case

Very nice that mate - enjoy it!

The more you enjoy it, the more "vintage-ised" it will get anyway. Then scratches and dings will actually remind you of real stuff, rather than throwing it into a bucket of nails!
