Inushuk 0 Posted February 26, 2011 no it has a Swiss ETA 2824-2 - I've open the beauty and checked with this link (http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/eta-2836-2-vs-clone-61801.html) Prices are in Euros Omega Black UPO 203,70 Omega 062SB3063- Sapphire Glass 144,29 Omega OME-2500-Dial#3 (064WK3170001) - Black Dial 203,47 Omega HAN-4221 (065WZ4312) - Hour & Minute Hand 25,94 Omega HAN-4222 (066WZ4313) - Centre Seconds Hand 12,77 Omega 082SU1703 - Planet Ocean Black Bezel Insert 171,93 Omega 069ST42184 - Crown 9 x Ø6.10, Depth 4.50 13,93 Omega 090ST1232-Case Tube 3,21 Glass Gasket (X22746) x 1 5,36 Helium Valve 086ST0115 53,64 ETA date wheel - white on black 3h - 2557/1 for 2892 - 31,89 Shiping fees 20,00 Total 890,
speedzmaster 0 Posted February 27, 2011 That's actually pretty good. The final product will look sweet! How much would a gen case cost? One more thing...if its a Swiss 2824, then why change the datewheel?
Inushuk 0 Posted February 27, 2011 That's actually pretty good. The final product will look sweet! How much would a gen case cost? One more thing...if its a Swiss 2824, then why change the datewheel? On the top of the 890 I ll have to had the modder's job + shipping + gen Rubber strap : approx 160 euros more. Next step but i'm not sure to go so far is : a case back for 100 euros (inc shipping) and a gen ss bracelet for 400 euros (inc shipping). then too much expensive and I will go for a Gen Omega PO For the datewheel : just look close to the picture and you'll see the difference the new datewheel numbers are thicker (bold font) and brighter than the one in the watch. So date will be better ... See below a better picture and notice the new date

tardman91 0 Posted February 27, 2011 How much could you find a similar used gen for?
speedzmaster 0 Posted February 27, 2011 How much could you find a similar used gen for? Easily under $2K. This watch head sold for $1600. This one for $1700. But, this one, sold for $1350! A rarity, but the deals are out there. This is why I question these super franken builds, regardless of the "I built it myself" mentality. In the end, if you did source all of the parts individually (including a case) to build an actual PO, you'd be paying more than what an AD would charge. This is why the Rolex DateJust is still the bargain Franken to build. All gen parts except for movement and hands at a total cost of $700. Regardless, in the end of it all, we're still wearing a rep. You're right Speed but it is also for the fun and the beauty of the Franken. I do not pretend to have a gen one with my franken and most of the one you pointed out are from US and canada and I'm in France ... Anyway I'll buy a Gen in the next few months for sure and It will be probably a new one from an AD or a very recent second hand
Inushuk 0 Posted March 2, 2011 First step was ... Open the damn watch and take everything off.... ^_^ thanks to fine_dd for the job and the Picts B)
mspangl 0 Posted March 2, 2011 gonna be pretty neat! BUT do the gen hands fit the 2824? another question does a 2892 dw fit @ 2824? ^_^
Inushuk 0 Posted March 2, 2011 gonna be pretty neat! BUT do the gen hands fit the 2824? another question does a 2892 dw fit @ 2824? Hope it will be nice.. yes Gen Hands fit 2824-2 as Omega has based its caliber 2500 co-axial on the venerable Omega caliber 1120 Based on the ETA 2892 and 2824-2 is an evolution of the 2892 with Exact same datwheel ... (can check that www.eta.ch) This is the beauty of the UPO : almost all part of the watch can be directly swap to the Gen (except the bezel which need some extra work )
Inushuk 0 Posted March 6, 2011 Here are some picts I received from Uwe (fine_dd) Thanks Uwe Fake parts are allways on the left, gen parts allways on the right. The Datewheel with hugh different Dial by day - many differents Daillume - many differents Hourhand - pretty good made from the fakefactory Minutehand - pretty good made from the fakefactory Valve - fake is only pressed in, gen is screwed Tube - fake is only pressed in, gen is screwed Bezel - pretty colsed to gen but the high, the teeth and the pearl are different Gasket - I must make it thinner Crystal - the gen is 0,5mm thicker That's make a lot of difference.... jameo210369 0 Posted March 16, 2011 Great project, if was going to spend that much on a franken rep I'd sooner save that bit extra and get the gen. Thanks for sharing
Inushuk 0 Posted March 17, 2011 @jameo ... you're right it is always same debat ... why this kind of franken when the gen is not that far in term of price ... The answer is : beauty of a franken and the fun of the project and a real personnal watch ... still less expensive than the gen ... Grand Total is : 890,13 Euros +100 € for modding +60 € for gen strap +10€ for shiping = 1060 € when a new gen is 2550 €....
